Sweet ebay deal on '05 - 2400 miles @$77K
If this is legit (and it is an MB dealer) this is a good deal with nice options-- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...QQcmdZViewItem.

Wow - you should have grabbed it b/c that would be an unbelievable deal. According to Edmunds, invoice on that car brand new with those options is 82,745. Given that as of a couple of weeks ago there was no trunk money on the car, a dealer go only go to invoice minus holdback (msrp x 3%) before he is losing money - and most dealers don't like losing money. At 77K, your dealer was offering car at almost 6K BELOW invoice -- and losing over 3K.
That is one sweet deal

Wow - those are great deals. Can somebody explain to me how these authorized MB dealers are selling at a huge loss? Its one thing to give up some or all of the holdback just to clear the car off of the floor plan, but to take an actual LOSS. I don't get it.

Sometimes you have to realize when to cut your losses and move on. Its not always about profit, its also about units sold. MB likes to see units moving, the dealers future allocations are based on units sold. Look at glausner, they have been whoring out 2006 S classes for a loss, but I guy I deal with told me the whole story. They are selling tons of cars and for each old s class they sell, MB gives them 1 1/2 new body s class allocations. So when everyone else is sold out of the new body style s class they will have inventory and then make their money back.
