Nothing MB related (sorry)
If you want to have DVD playback in your 2005 E-class, you have to swap your current US spec comand for a Euro spec comand. That's the only way...

There is another way by purchasing one of these and a mobile dvd player. [http://gnetcanada.com/navvideo-overview.htm .

Looks like $600 for a complicated setup involving not only an external input box but installation of an internal circuit board in your head unit, and then you still don't have audio to go with the video--you need an FM modulator or something to get audio too. Sounds to me like swapping for a Euro spec Comand unit would make far more sense.

You can use the aux input in the glove box or for full surround with an adapter. My friend has this set-up on his s55 and it works great. Tv tuner, video games etc.etc. He has the integrated phone and did not want to switch phones and get the euro spec command which is uhi.

Like I said before this is just an alternative, the euro swap is definitely easier but also more money.

I sent my stock factory head unit to NavTv, mounted a 10 disc DVD changer in the truck and installed Alpine monitors in factory S class headrests. It's amazing I love having a video system in my benz!!!
Have a look.

I also have my ipod that plugs into the glove box. I can run the audio and video off my ipod via Alpine remote. It works off an Apline Video hub. See pics It's AMAZIN!!!!

...........I was going to say that this is not correct, but the pictures from MBH already speak for themselves. Very nice set up by MBH. There are multiple sources for Mb audio video equipment, but there seems to be some kind of herd mentality on the forum.

Actually, you are right... I forgot to add the phrase 'if you want to get the original MB equipment'.

.........I think his oem comand is an original MB equipment, so is the MB TV tuner he is using. All they do at NAV-TV is to activate the North American Comand with a module without need for star. I just wanted to clarify this so that others reading the thread don't have the mistaken impression that they will be unable to use "Original MB equipment" such as MB Tv tuner etc if they go with NAV-TV.

MBH,
Are the S class headrest posts hollow on the inside? How did you hide the wires from the headrest monitors? Very nice set up you have there.

Purchased 2 stock S class headrests. Had my Stereo Guy Gut it and ran the wires down the metal posts. The head rests still go up and down electronically Needless to say he did an awesome job.

Hi Everyone
It is now possible to convert ALL MB comand units to a DVD/TV screen. This mod will give you 2 video inputs 1 for dvd and 1 for backup camera. The unit will auto switch to backup camera when you put the car in reverse.
Yes you will have video in motion. If you have an aux adapter your audio will
be via aux, if not we make an excellent FM mod which has excellent sound.
If you have a Euro comand unit we can also release all video locks.
Feel free to call us at 718-763-7367 or email us at sales@tvandNav2Go.com
or visit us at www.TVandNav2Go.com
Thanks Dominic :zoom

I love the front of your E55. Check out the "Twins" in the E55 Forum. The Alabaster white with the CL Grill is mine.

Happy Motoring

Looks like someone had their post deleted in RECORD time and then became a sponsor. God bless capitalism.
