Its a ton of labor the parts itself cost $299 i think and if i remember right it took the dealer 3 hours to install. i guess they have to take some stuff apart. i didnt pay for it had the sales guy put it in for free when the car was bought and he didnt know that it would cost more than $100 and when i go to get the car he told me it cost over $600.

Wait a minute, there's a kit now that works with the 2004 E55? I didn't think they were going to release one. I thought it was 2005 and up? If this is true, I'll be going to get one...

greetingz,
Ok, thanks. Can you help me out, though? Which is a retrofitted command for the 2004? I have the COMMAND with the single slot CD (no DVD/MP3 support) only and the AUX input, do I need to put a 2005+ in to make this work? (Of course, MP3 capability would be nice, 6 disc changer notwithstanding)

I could be wrong but my service guy told me he could install the ipod kit in my 2004 but he said it would be like $900 because they had to run a bunch of wires? Ripping the car apart to run wires? hmmm

that is freaking BS - the install procedure for an Ipod kit is the same for a 2004, 2005 or 2006 (US spec) W211...for all these cars the tech has to run the exact same wiring...we offer installed Ipod kits in the W211s for 525USD.

As for the 2004s (neutronium), your comand will do...as for the 2003s - the car requires a comand to be able to get an Ipod kit installed.
