Cl65 Or E55 Kleeman K3

Is the cl65 worth 136k or is it better to mod my 06 e55 with the kleeman k3 set up? The cl65 has all the options and 1k miles and my e55 has all but the pano roof, and distronic.

The 65 is in a totally different league. If you can jump into one, go right ahead. I saw a CL55 on Boylston St today and I was drooling all over even though I own an E55.

The CL is probably smoother and quieter. It has already taken a big hit on depreciation. It has more power than you will have with K3 and it has a warranty, something the K3 won't have.

And since the 65 upgrades are software, the warranty issue is not going to be a big deal. I think we decided for you. Get the car.

If you can get the CL65, I would get that over the E55 even w/K4 setup.

CL suspension is far superior as far as wheel control over rough pavement. It's obvious that it's a much heavier car. I loved the one I drove.

I'm not crazy about the styling tho. I think the new version soon to be available looks better.

Shoudnt require a shred of thought. Go with the 65. 604 Hp and 738 Lb-Ft stock and ABC which is far superior to plain old AirMatic DC among many other things.

LOL, Boyleston St, you must live in Worcester ( I used to live there for a few years!)

I would have to cast a ballot for the 65 as well, unlike some I still think its one of the best looking cars on the road today, especially lowered with large diameter wheels!

Good luck on your choice!

To me, it depends on whether you need rear doors?
If you have kids to cart around the CL65 (as fantastic as it is) will likely prove to be a pain in the butt.
It would also attract attention - do you have a private car park?

My $0.02.

Oz, just wanted to make sure you have the correct numbers........if you have the chance at one of the greatest motors ever produced , need to do this.

With Kleemann stage 1 which is just software mind you (ECU) that they will never be able to notice, you bump the hp up to these mind blowing stats.

hp 731
Torque.........almost 1000ft lbs.

That's punching it at 60 and seeing ESP kinda stuff. K3 E55 is great and all, but unless you wanna play bad guy with the dealer all the time (constantly having them shame you when you bring car in plus the warranty worries).....go CL.

If you need the room......thhhaaaat's a different story.

From Klemann website.
For the powerful 6.0 litre V12 AMG engine KLEEMANN offers an ECU up grade programme that adds 127 Hp and 300 Nm (222 lb-ft) to the car's already incredible power output. The additional power is available in the midrange of the rev scale (2500-4500 rpm). The ECU performance kit is available for the SL 65 AMG, CL 65 AMG and the S 65 AMG.

Alright guys I will check it out and see what the dealer says. I know I am not going to like the hit on trade I will take but with the cl being only 136k compared to what sticker was I may be able to live with it. I just put a set of 19inch gfg wheels on the E55 I wonder if they will fit the cl ( same off set?) or if I need to go 20inch? I will keep you guys posted and thanks for the help. As log as they dont screw me on the trade I will do it, I dont want to give my E55 away it is only a month or so old.

If they won't offer a desirable price for your E55, why not try to sell it on eBay or Autotrader? Quite a few guys have been successful selling their cars. Good luck.

Look around, the CL65 (all 65's) values are falling like rocks and are sitting on lots like rocks! I passed on a slightly used 05 SL65 with 6K miled for $125K a few weeks ago. Not sure what the future will bring on these cars, but a few leasing guys told me that the residual value on a SL65 after three years currently is mid $70K's and five years is mid $50K's. Apparently a memo from MB released about 12/22 lowered all values on cars across all models 15%-25%.

I am waiting to see what a few more months of winter will do with respect to the SL65's value. Spoke to Cory and playing the mod game on this car is a "no brianer" only ECU swap compared to our E55's. Just like Jack said, close to 1000 TQ and over 800HP with only a ECU

You pay more for a car so you pay less to mod

Well the dealer called me back and said 70k on my E55. So that ends that. I was talking to friend of mine who owns a nice wheel shop in KC and he says a guy there has the same car in pewter for sale too. Sure does seem as if all the people that bought them are trying to sell them fast. Infact I was at the dealer here a few weeks ago and there was an sl65 in there getting some service. The shop guy said a local in town sold it to his buddy and then his buddy sold it to someone out of state. So I dont know why the rush to get rid of these cars but I may just wait and get something like a Bently gt or a baby lambo they all seem to be in the same price range. Thanks again guys. I will post some pics of the new wheels on the car soon, they came out great 19x8.5 and 19x10 with a nice 3 inch lip in the rear.
