Good luck, but as a dealer, you are flogging a dead horse.
Contrary to what you said, all dealers have control over the prices by their feedback to the principals.

I was notified about this product maybe a couple months after buyin the car but totally looked the other way once I found the price of that thing. If we can get the price down significantly I'm all for it...other wise I'll live through the people who have it LOL

Back when I was in school a long time ago we learned that the first thing to do before attempting to produce a product - let alone bringing that product to market - was to determine if there is indeed a market for the product, and to determine if that market for the product would or could supply enough demand to generate enough revenue at given price points to exceed production and marketing costs and so result in a profit.
I think that they missed something here. Whether it's the CF and perceived demand or production cost resulting in a higher price, or simply the pricing, or something else I just don't know....
I wouldn't buy it -- and I can afford to and spend ridiculous amounts of money on my cars!
I'd say that this particular marketing survey of MBWorld E55 Forum members indicated that there are problems with the product as presented and priced...quite obviously.
Perhaps they can sell it somewhere else, to another market? Perhaps they need to lower the price-point and more people would be interested?

I just cant bring myself to pay $3,800 for 15hp (still unproven) for that intake system when it spends its time hidden under the hood anyways. Now, if the gains were 50hp, I would have bought one already.

I guess they thought that since we are used to paying ridiculous prices for mods, we will not mind paying $3800 for an unproven intake. Looks like the M-B enthusiasts are finally wising up.

No way will I spend 5% of the purchase price of my E55 on a non dyno proven intake. Those prices are for the high net worth that are driving 65 AMGs and other cars.
I'd bet at $3800 you will have a market size of < 20 people out of all of the W211 E55s sold to date.

It's a very popular system in Japan. I've seen several cars (an SL55, a pair of E46 M3s, an NSX) installed with the system. However, I highly doubt if it would deliver the 20ps as stated...... I think of this more as a show piece (but they designed it so that the engine cover won't fit!? WTF!?)

How are the intake gains going to be realised without an ECU upgrade to get
the 15hp?
Well, if you want the looks AND the extra power, that will be extra $1500...

I can get some nice CF trim for my interior with that price.

Ask Mikey, he'll eat it, he'll eat anything.
I remember the endless discussions on M3Forum about the Gruppe M intake. Lots of money, looked nice, well constructed and provided as much extra power as a turbo emblem on the back of a normally aspirated Civic.

Adam,
Could you post a price based on number of individuals for a group buy. For example:
5 buyers = $x Price
10 buyers = $y price
15 buyers = $z price.
I am sure I speak for a number of us that we would like to buy this product, but can justify the price. What more, there really hasn't been anyone out there who has installed the system with proven results. I would imagine that Gruppe M could sell a whole lot more if they could just get it out there. I am sure this mod would be worth some horsepower. How much, we just don't know. For an additional 40+ HP, I would buy for that price. for 10-20, I am not so sure.
Thanks

manufacturers and it is the vendor's choice to try and foist such products on the "starry eyed" enthusiasts who make up this forum.
I stand by my comments: we are not stupid or we would never have earned enough money in the first place to buy these cars (eighteen year olds, whose parents bought their cars excluded...)
$3000 steering wheel, $4000 C/F airbox, what's next, $5000 toilet seat?
We don't all work for the Defence Department....
