Aftermarket grill with Distronic
Anyone here fit an aftermarket grill to their E55 with Distronic? I have distronic on my E500 and want to go with a CL-style grill but dont know if that will interfere with the operation of the distronic unit. I would have to make a cover for the unit that would go behind the grill, but would the interference from the grill effect its function?

I would not risk it...the distronic is a function of the whole car electronic system (brakes, traction control, etc.). If any part of the system is compromised...it could mean disaster if the system lost control.

I am also interested in this. I have a chip in the chrome on my grill and I need to do something. I would consider a CL type grill with the plastic star for the distronic in the CL. If it will fit, it most likely will work. It certainly works in the CL and SL.
