2006 E55 AMG, 1999 540i BMW
Greetings ! and a question..

Hello everyone! Just joined as a member though I have been reading the E55 posts for some time. Love the Forum and the quality and tone of the interaction here. I received an '06 Barolo Red E55 AMG (dont have pics yet) gift from Santa this past Christmas - at least that is what I tell my kids!! They believe me ... though I have not convinced the wife about that story yet!

anyway..quick question: though my car is still in the running-in period and it is too soon to start thinking about mods - what is the first mod that you would suggest I think about, if I were to consider mods?

Thanks!

The consensus on this board seems to lean toward an ecu flash of some kind with pullies installed. Good luck.

Welcome and congrats on the Christmas gift...Santa must be a carguy! Probably, the first thing to do is reconsider the rubber that is on the car now. You can then open the whole can of worms on the mod issue by just doing a search on the forum for Kleeman, Evosport, RennTech, MKB, etc...

There is so much info on the forum with regards to aesthetic, suspension, engine mods that you should have a nice afternoon of reading.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

I happened to see the show about AMG on speed channel and they tested each engine beyond belief before you receive them. They also invite you to run virtual runs on their computer while testing. This pretty much confirms that you don't need to do anything special to break in the engine. It's done before you get it. This is my opinion tho and you can abide by the rules if you want. I never do.

Well...had my car stolen - at the carwash. Guy just jumped in as the folks were drying it and peeled off! Luckily through Teleaid it was recovered a few hours later. At the workshop now getting the broken teleaid repaired - no other damage. Promise to post pictures once I get it back..

I think you set a record for time between purchase and loss. Congrats on the recovery and hope the repair goes well.

Well, we are all looking to make our mark. I don't think anyone is going to beat yours. I don't think ClayJ is going to top that. Right, Mr. J? Now, get your camera and go to work.

Haha. I bought a new motorcycle a few years back and had it stolen the next day at UCSD. They just threw it in the back of a pickup at high neeon. Lots of witnesses all thought it was the owner's bike. Sorry about the joyrider. Hope all else is fine with it. was it just dumped after the ride, or did they "chase" the cat?

I agree: 2x Green Filters (or K&N) and 4x PS2 tires. If stock wheels, get 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 PS2!
Congratulations, you got yourself the best car in the world!
