did a search and couldnt find anything..

anyways I dropped my '04 e55 off at the dealer on thurs and mentioned to him some strange noise coming from the engine compartment. He called me and told me that something is wrong with the bearing in supercharger and it will take a few days to get parts..

has anyone had this experience? how major is this problem? TIA!

 

Wonder if get parts means get new supercharger. Knowing Benz, they will try to repair it......

Have not heard of bearings going bad, but I have heard many times of problems with superchargers and Benz swapping them right out.

Wonder what gives....sounds like my stealer.

 

Gentlepeople: can I take this opportunity to 'plug' an extended warranty-imagine the cost to the owner if this was out of warranty! Sorry to be so dark but...

 

eyc: Most likely a tensioner bearing making noise. Kompressors have been pretty reliable so far.

If it is a kompressor bearing, MB would likely replace the whole unit. IHI does not provide service parts as of yet.
