M5 Dyno, GOT TORK?
Saw this thread over on the M5 board, 415 rwhp and 285 rwtq....

I was going to get DRAGTMS for my E55 plate, since my Viper has DRAGTMZ, but my old Viper plate was this, maybe I should put this on the E55...

That was my car that was dyno'ed.
The torque seemed very strange to me and the curve was a bit weird. I don't a good explanation for it except for the fact that the car threw up a bunch of warning lights. The HP seemed to climb and keep climbing as if there was no end. I will try to redyno the car in about another 3 weeks or so and see if the results are the same. I would have expected about 310ish torque to the wheels though.
Will keep you posted.

The E55 by far feels "faster" due to the torque, and it is faster off the line. The M5 shines at high speed. It's a hard "test drive" for those that go from a 55K car to the M5. The M5 does other things well, as opposed to the E55 taking off like a rocket.

One thing the car hasn't done is helped greedy stealers make additional profit. You can find them at MSRP nowadays, as long as you search away from certain markets.

I seriously think there was something wrong with either the car or dyno or both...I don't know because the numbers reflect that the car should not pull as hard as it does.
Besides having a strange looking torque figure, I did a bunch of research on torque vs HP and why a curve is important etc. I'm glad I did a lot of reading on it, learned something very important.

dynoing this car can be a ***** to get a right reading. You need to run as close to a 1:1 ratio to get a closer reading.
what gear was this car in?
there was a guy dynoing an m5 and tried 3rd,4th,5th and 6th and the car was making more power and torque in every gear and had to stop at 7k in 6th because the dyno was at 180ish
ended up making 445whp@7k and 341 rwt and would of made close to 465 whp if he kept revving it in 6th.
that is the reason why your car feels way faster than what your dyno pull shows.

You sure you had the car in optimized/sport mode?
Motor Trend ran a low 14 sec quarter mile with the M5 in comfort/normal mode and 12.8 I think in sport. lol
Not that I even know how those funky BMWs work, but you could try.

i'd guess and say that the 14.2 was in P400 and 12.8 in P500 and not just comfort mode.

kind of pointless unless you remove the speed limiter and plan on going 180MPH in 6th gear though.....

I dynoed my car in 3rd and 4th gear and made 10whp more in 4th It also has do do with what type of dyno your using
the dyno sheets are over at the m5 board

makes sense... 445rwhp is great, highest I've seen thus far.....
