BTW - 1.9 sec is not a bad time for an E55 with street tires. Be proud.

Also, about two weeks ago a guy from Miami with a white E55 with what he claimed to be $4,000 in Kleeman mods was furious since he was running 12.3s @ 114. That being said, I know there are cars faster than mine, I am just very happy with the 120.96 mph trap speed with only the RENNtech ECU and pulley since I know it has more mph in it because I walked it out of the hole.

In talking to Dynocomp here in town who would do the upgrade it is my understanding that it takes the limiter to 186mph. Do you mind me asking how much it was to do the job? I am not sure but I think Dynocomp said it was around $5000.00 including labor but don't qoute me on that. I asked a couple of months ago and wasn't very serious about any mods at the time.
Approximately $5,000.00 and well worth it.

I think your car is running great, in stock and modded form. I just thought Grumpy's comment was off a little. Get some drag radials and you'll go a lot deeper in the 11s

I am only aware of one stock E55 that has trapped at 118 MPH with stock tires (housclass). I have seen many in the 110-115 range. Despite running 12.169, I have never trapped over 115.5 MPH, and I have at least 20 runs in the 110-114MPH range, so I do concur with Grumpy that 116MPH trap speeds is at the top end of the 55K range. SGC obviously has a strong car to run 117 stock.

Congrats on the Mod buddy - when are you run it with your drag radials? Hope to join you and the growing list of boys at Moroso soon. South Florida MBWorld guys really do represent at the 1/4 mile!!!!!

Since then I added a Pulley and software and the car slowed down to 12.00's at the same mph 115. The car picked up 40 hp on the dyno but at the track my gains are non-existent. Your trap speed of 120 is amazing considering I trap 121 on NOS with 524 rwh. If you search my post's my time slips are posted. Time to get my ecu programed by Renntech. I was blaming my issues on the weather but you have proved that's not the case congratulations.

I've run from 112-117 in my car, depending on conditions. I think it's difficult to compare because some of our runs here in the Mid-Atlantic states are made in -DA conditions.

Thanks Siswati. Congrats on the new car. It's beautiful.
Waiting for new drag radials to arrive, will probably head to Moroso next week.

Considering my gains and Hartmut's experience, in my opinion, I would only go to RENNtech.

if and when I do buy my E55 this year, I will definately do RennTech for pulley and chip.
Impressive numbers!
The trap speed is on par with the almighty M5.
I wonder how you would do from 70 to 140 against one? This has been a big debate.
Can a simple chip and pulley upgrade can keep up with 500 hp and 7sp SMGII? For some, a modded car against a stock car is not a fair race. But as a future owner of a E55, I would love to spend $5k and have no worries that my 3 year old E55 can still keep up.

The car will obviously run 11.60's with a 60' in the 1.7s (Next time). Driveability is same if not better than stock, but the car pulls like a freight train. Special thanks to Hartmut, Jeff and Bob @ RENNtech.

RENNtech did dyno my car before and after. Picked up a little over 50 rwhp and 50 rwt. I personally don't put a whole lot of weight on the dyno numbers (too many variables), since I have seen people post very high numbers and their cars have no trap speed. My biggest concern was would the mods translate into better e.t. and more mph at the track. In essence, I didn't care what the dyno numbers were, what I cared about was real world performance at the track. RENNtech delivered. I would definitely get the work done if you want a quicker car. Hope this helps.

on par with the M5?? no way an M5 will pull 121MPH traps..... not a chance..... he will blast away an M5 at any speed....
there was an M5 at the track last night with an Active Aerowerke ecu upgrade, running 113MPH traps.....

How much of a difference did you notice when you left RennTech and were simply driving about town? I would like a little more kick but I only drive around town with the occasional flooring on a long straight or on an on-ramp.
Also, how long did they have your car. Is it a one day job?
Thanks much

The last car and driver had the M5 at 118 with a 1/4 time of 12.5. Most real times of M5 drivers are about that, if they know how to use the LC. This car has great trap speed but an average ETA.
It is well document that from 0-120 the e55 stock will do be hard to beat.
HOWEVER:
0-150 the E55 is behind 3.xx seconds to the M5. I think this where the pulley and chip will greatly reduce and even out the time compared to the M5. (this scenerio has yet to be tested)
I live in LA- and my average speed for my commute is 35mph per hour. I never plan to take the E55 above 120.
Stock E55 112 to 115 MPH
Most pulley and chip or K1 or stage 1 owners are running 115 to 119.
K2 or Stage 2 owers are running 119 to 122 and higher
<121 MPH trap speed is above the standard variation for a stage I E55.>
This E55 is very strong and above average.
My point being that a simple chip and pulley will get me around 117 to 119mph (on average) and only cost around $5k. I will take it!
If the car performs higher than that.. than

Highly Recommend Renntech Mods
Finally had a nice sunny day and I had a chance to test out my Renntech mods. I had a Renntech ECU, Pulley, and headers installed about a month ago and haven't had a chance to drive my car since the upgrade. While I unfortunantely didn't dyno before or after or have an opportunity to track the car, I can say with certainty that this car is much faster. I can't keep it under 130mph on normal highway driving (at least not when i floor it). When Englishtown opens back up I will track the car and provide some #s.
BTW, I highly recommend Renntech mods.....

Warranty?
I hate to ask mundane questions... First of WOW that is a TON of bang for the buck! Into the 11z for only $5k! Yowzers.
But what impact on warranty? I'm guessing going back to stock setup wouldn't be that complex if something were to break... Is that the tactic? Will the dealer even see the change? Will they deny service if they notice? If experience with other brands is any indicator, the answer is 'yes' the dealer will spot it, and yes, they'll deny coverage unless they are really cool, which isn't the case very often.
Is Mercedes nicer to AMG owners? Will they commonly overlook a little pulley/ecm swap?
Thanks,
Skeeter
