Trany and Cluch.
I am thinking of modifying my trany, any idea on vendor/price/time of installing a close ratio trany, heavy duty racing cluch and a flywheel?

Never heard of anyone modefying the ESS tranny.I too was concerned about how the tranny held up under modsthing ,but i was told that MB makes a real sturdy tranny........with other cars that i owned, i had to do a tranny upgrade any north of 400rw.There is a company in .NJ (Level 10) that is a great place to start your inquiry .But they are expensive as hell.

Yeah bro....just a matter of cash. You can do anything with monster cash.
Just sounds like too much work and cash for the outcome.
Let's us know if you find anything.

Hell, Kobe Bryant had a Lamborgini modified from a stick to automatic. It cost him $100K. Maybe you can get his old manual system and do a swap?? LOL!
Dude, break it before you replace it. That's how you find the weak links.

Maybe something that speeds up the shift. God, I can't stand that delay when shifting into drive after reverse. Thank God that I don't live on a busy street.

My understanding is 'strengthening', and modification of the electronics ala ECU-chip tuning(?) to alter shift speeds, points, and logic. All done to the autotranny -- no aftermarket manual trannies available that I know of.
No tuners that I know of, even the shops that are doing race-tuning and very high power-output tuning, don't like and respect and use the current MBZ 5-speed autobox -- including AMG and HWA....
There is a rumour, and a couple of hints have been dropped by MBZ and AMG execs, that they are about to isue a new rendition (electronics tweaking?) of the 5-speed autotranny box - and like in the next few months, and that they are currently testing the changes(?)....
I'm all for it!
