The first time I downshifted manually I was quite surprised that it rev-matched. However, since then, I have learned that you need to keep your foot on the gas pedal. Otherwise, it will not rev-match and you might get a jolt (especially if you don't shift from 4th to 2nd as I tend to do before taking a HW exit).
