After your car reaches terminal velocity (120mph) horsepower starts to matter more and more. There is a formula to calculate how much horespower is needed to attain a certain speed. While I dont remember the exact formula, it is based on Coefficient of drag (cd), frontal area (sq. ft) and vehicle weight.
Here is an example of a good calculator I found on the net:

Well this is something that has worried me about delimiting the car ... we need tyres capable of 320km/h but we are issued with continentals and the only rating I could find on them were ZR if I remember correctly ... and thats only good for 240-250km/h
Also the reason the 030 cars have teh 186mph restriction is because of tyres.
Speed.............. Category
180 km/h (112 mph) - S
190 km/h (118 mph) - T
200 km/h (124 mph) - U
210 km/h (130 mph) - H
240 km/h (149 mph) - V (ZR)
270 km/h (168 mph)* W
300 km/h (186 mph)* Y (PS2)
So please beware guys !

ContiSportContact 2/Vmax
Let the flames begin, as I know most people around these parts dislike the Contis. Please note that I'm talking about the requirements for a true high-speed tire; nothing else. From the Conti description:
The ContiSportContact 2 Vmax is Continental's Max Performance Summer tire that was designed to be the fastest "off-the-shelf" tire in the world. Intended for ultra-fast, high-end customized sport cars and performance sedans, the ContiSportContact 2 Vmax is the first road tire certified by Continental for speeds of up to 225 mph (360 km/h), a speed at which the tires must withstand revolving approximately 50 times every second while they carry the vehicle 330 feet (100 meters) down the road.

just dont think about the tires and ull b cool
realistically any performance tire can handle these speeds for short periods, unless u plan on going flat out for 10 minutes dont even worry
