19" Wheels with 255/285 = loss of acceleration?

Am I paranoid, or is there a real loss of "off-the-line" and "kick-down-to-first" acceleration after switching from stock 18" with 245/275 to 19" with 255/285?
The rear 285/30/19 tire is now 25.9" tall vs. 40% worn 275/35/18 25.4".
That is a +2% gain in diameter: is it enough to adversely affect the gearing
with such a high torque engine? Both tires are PS2.

I also feel that on hard acceleration in first gear, the car rear end squirms about a lot more than before, but this could be due to the deeper tread on the brand new PS2.
There is no rubbing anywhere so I don't expect any "wiggle" effect in the rear end.

Any of you guys had similar experience with your 19" tires?

I will next do a few 0-60 runs against the G-tech to confirm my suspicions.

FALSE ALARM - It was the HEAT!

False alarm! We had a cool change and the heatwave of 90F+ since I got the new wheels was causing the car to feel like it had a bungy cord attached to it's rear end!
Today it's down to 72F and my baby flies again, even on oversized wheels!
Did a few runs on the G-Tech SS and managed the average of 0-100kph 4.7sec, which is 4.4-4.5sec 0-60mph.

Thanks for great feedback guys...

congrats on your 1/4 mile time I saw posted on dragtimes - glad to see the boys down under running the strip. Back in South Africa where I am from the tracks were seldom available for joe blow test and tune, but it might have changed since I left. Here in South Florida we have access to a local track (Moroso) very wed and fri evening - trying to get a cool dry spell to coincide with those days is just about impossible. Temps have been in the 40's Monday adn Tuesday but will unfortunately be back up in the 70's on Wed. So keen to try out the CLS55 with the LSD to see if the LSD adds anything.

Hey, we are from South Africa too, now in Oz since 1982.Let us know how you go with the LSD in your CLS.
LSD will probably add a psychedelic experience to your drags...
