Circle ya wagons....
Easy all,
Having made the decision to now buy a used 55 wagon I find myself stuck for choice and depressed about the lack of options that ex-owners took when ordering their rides. I'm suprised by the low number of used wagons out there that are also missing what I would consider essential options (third row seating is a must). One option that does appear often on the used sedan and not on the wagon is Parktronic. I was at a dealership today and was told that it couldn't be ordered on a new wagon. MB can't be serious right? My wife (bless her) is going to murder the paint without the alarm bleeping. Was this option ever available on the wagon? If there are any wagon owners out there with PT let me know. thnx.
I will persevere and wait for the right deal but I wonder if maybe I have missed a website, or perhaps there is a specialist that can help me. Does anyone have any different advice??
BTW, todays test drive was killer. I'm a 325xi wagon owner now, so to move up to this car is special. Its the pure power in front of me, the molding seats, the huge cargo room, the prestige.... I can't wait and nor can the kids...
Cheers in advance,
fleebee

Like you, I found the lack of Parktronic option puzzling. Just got back from Switzerland where there was a MB dealer directly across from the hotel. Had a little stroll through the lot and to my surprise every "estate" had Parktronic!
MBenzNL - how much is this retrofit?

I've got the wagon and I'd say you're not missing much without parktronic. Unlike the sedan, which has a high rear window with limited visibility out the back (uh, just how long is the trunk...
), you can see very well the back of the car by looking over your shoulder while in reverse. It's quite a bit easier to drive than you'd think.
happy motoring, the e55 wagon is the best car in the world because it covers all bases and does everything transportation should as well or better than other cars out there. you will be a happy man!

911 Turbo, M5, E55 wagon
You might check Auto Trader (www.autotrader.com). Do an advanced search for the E55 with wagon body style. I just took a look and there were three or four with third row seats at MB dealers. Mercedes was only going to import 200 or so E55 wagons a year thus I would not expect a lot of used vehicles.
My kids walk on four legs, shed and slobber on the windows (and sometimes the second row passengers) which makes the third row seat somewhat useless for me.
It really is a pretty stealthy vehicle.
Happy Hunting.
