I just compared the paddle shifters in a CLK63 to the shift buttons in my 06 E55 and they are the exact same size at the mounting point.
I then checked the parts department to see if you could order the paddles but they do not have a part number and the paddles don't show up on the micro-fiche go figure! I guess we will have to wait for the AMG kit.

The buttons are horrible. Paddles would be much better. I'm interested if anyone has information.

Compatible w/C55?

this just for those who were wondering about that - and by then, we will offer that as well offcourse...no need to mail about that already as I don't know anything more as what I wrote in this thread.

greetingz,

Would the paddles be compatible with a C55 steerring wheel? Would love a set - had paddles on my M3, which were much better than the buttons on my C55.

Thanks!

Are the 63 paddles using different swtiches? or is it simply the old clickers with a paddle stuck on it instead of the buttons?

For what it's worth I recently purchased the Brabus wheel with paddle shifters.
(See attached picture). It's thick and leather coated, a good combo.
Also note the 200 MPH speedo they installed too!

Nothing MB related (sorry)
No update... we ordered some steering wheel with paddle shifters at AMG Manufaktur (a few months ago), but no delivery as of now.

Meaning that Steve has not yet had the opportunity to install this in anyone's car, or do a test install in an MB that didn't come with paddle shifters from factory.

greetingz,

BigSis

can MBenzNL please post pics of the AMG wheels that are currently available? I am not interested in the paddle upgrade, but just in a thicker wheel.
Thanks

Cool, thanks. That steering wheel looks great. Do you have picture with another view of the steering wheel by any chance?

Its really about time MB got with the program and offered you guys some paddles, even though you only have five gears to choose from.

I'm in love with my paddles!

One of my few gripes about the E55,stupid looking steering wheel! My 05 S4 has paddles and looks better imo. Will the E63 wheel swap over to the E55?

Before you guys start getting too excited, keep in mind that the Benz system has the paddles on the wheel itself. It makes for MANY accident shifts on a road course. Also, the AMG box is not nearly as responsive as others (BMW), so using manual mode is a bit of a poser session to me.

You make a good point. For me personally, the only reason I would get them is 1) it looks better and 2) I downshift every now and then with the buttons when driving on curvey roads.

so whats the go with a paddle upgrade!? through the twisties i find myself using the buttons all the time, even though i prefer the feeling of giving the shifter a kick. its nice not to be able to leave your hands on the wheel at all times, but as we all know there are some better quality buttons on our playstation controllers
