Recommendation for lowering module!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I was thinking of purchasing lowering module for my car. I was @ www.wheelexperts.com and their feature E55 used the Brabus module. I tried to contact them to see if they still actually sell them there, but the Vice President stated they only sell Kleeman’s because of past issues with Brabus.

My question to anyone out there that does have a lowering module for their E55 is how has your experience been so far, any normal problem, and HOW MUCH DOES IT EFFECT THE CURRENT RIDE FEEL? I have my car in sports mode 1 and that’s the most comfortable for me because it feels like a lowered car but still enough where it’s not bouncing everywhere.

Being that he really RECOMMENDED the Kleemann unit has anyone tried this unit and have had positive results or does anyone have a good recommendation for another brand. I’m very fascinated with the idea of lowering the car electronically versus changing springs.

Thank You everyone for the future inputs and all of your experiences with my questions!

How about an even more basic primer for us novice E55ers. I'd like to know how these modules work. Do they eliminate the settings (zero, one, or two lights) and replace them with one, super-low setting? Or do they just lower all three but still leave you with the ability to lower and raise within a lower range? Or (ideally) do they leave the zero and one light settings where they are and only slam the car when you light up both lights and put her in 'sports' mode?

Curious to know! My car seems VEEEEERY low with both lights on. Looks mean. Mind you, lower is always better looking, so I'd be ok with another two inches of drop, but only if it is on demand.

And while we are at it, what is the range of lift on a stock setup? My '05 seems to go from several inches of dead space above the wheel (in parking lot mode) to having the top of the tire lined up with the wheel well. Maybe 3" of travel? 4"? Do they move more than that?

Thanks in advance; sorry for the pesky questions,

Skeeter

Most modules leave the raising and lowering of the vehicle intact ... but everything is off a lower reference. Generally the old raised position disappears and the new raised position is the "old" nomal position If that makes sense. The Sport 1 & 2 take the car to new lows.

I am looking at getting the H&R ETS module ... still getting more info but the drop on that is around 30-40 mm... also the fitment app is quite simple.

More info to follow ...

Rgds Steve.

The Kleemann module works well, but I can't imagine lowering the E55 any more than stock. My stock 06 is very low and personally I would not want it any lower.

Can't go wrong with Kleemann. I plan on purchasing one sometime next week and installing it myself. Cory at Kleemann said it is relatively easy and if one can install a home stereo system, they can install the Kleemann lowering module.

i have had the kleemann module for a year now and have had no issues with it,the ride is better in my opinion than stock and the car feels more planted.

Why not get the Altered Atmosphere (MD) unit for $350, $425 installed. The owner (Mike Mahafee) has a E55 and CNC machined units. The ride high adjuster still works. It is low but not stupid looking. Ride is the same, handles better.

I opted not to pay $1.5K++ and so far I have been VERY HAPPY.

THANK YOU everyone for your input and recommendation for the lowering modules. It looks like I’m close to making a decision for the Kleemann unit due to all the good reviews from everyone.

Now onto another question that hopefully E55 owners can help answer for me, technically with the lowering module no springs are switched like the normal ways of lowering a car. Would I still keep the same stock ride if I do plan to lower the car hypothetically .50 inch or so??

Even though the modules aren’t cheap but if I can get to lower the car even more and still keep the same stock feel that would unbelievable!!!

But please correct me if I’m wrong!!! Thanks everyone!!!

I'm right there with you. I have the kit, it works perfect and saves a LOT of money. My technian at Mercedes said if he were to lower the car he would do it by the spacers not the moduals. He thought it would be better on the computers.

I've been reading many of these threads regarding lowering.. Have to agree that $1500+ to lower the car is insane, tricking it with washers is also slightly the other end of the scale. As a medium I would suggest that if you know a Tech who has the ability to do it via the computer it would be money well spent.

Give him a day or two salary, 20-30 minutes of your time & everyone is happy!

Why not e-mail MbenzNl, he's coming in April and can lower your car through star diagnose for $250.00 a sixth of what you're paying for the module. Everyone seems to be satisfied with it. I'm getting mine done April, and can't wait! He's taking appointments till March 30th.

With what means does this kit work to lower the car?
