I hardwired my Bel 65 the same way you showed here and it works awesome. Thanks for the information and nice pictures. Good luck with your install.

V1 Hardwire

Is it possible to find a "switched" wire from the headliner area (i.e. overhead lights, rear-view mirror)?

I was just thinking of powering the unit (without remote display).

Looking at the pictures, it seems very cumbersome to draw the power from the ashtray area if I just want the V1 installed by the mirror...

I have read that it can be powered from the overhead console lights. Try doing a search on it to get the details. Good luck.

I've read some threads where people tried to find switched 12v in the headliner but to no avail. The E is a strange beast and there actually are very few options for switched 12v. Many wires are switched but aren't 12v.
