MHI for 2006 E55
I need someone to verify this, I can add the MHI to a 2006 E55 after I take delivery of the car, correct? I am assuming I only need to buy the kit/with voice recognition from the dealer and install it. I am planning to do the bluetooth adaptor. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I have the MHI kit with voice. Just bought BT module. Worlks with my Blackberry 8700c, except it does not download my phonebook which is a big bummer. Otherwise, it works fine.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thanks for responding. Did you have your phone installed from the factory? My concern is if the 2006 E-class is not prewired for the MHI then retrofit is not possible. Can someone shed some light on this because I will be commit to an E55 soon.

'06 E55, '05 SLK55, a few others
Does anyone have the cost of this?? My '06 is also supposed to be "prewired" but does not have a cradle or the voice command stalk like my '02, but the spot for the stalk is there. Will any BT phone integrate completely, as if it was hardwired, with the phone book as well?

Well my worry is over. My car is still at the VPC in New Jersey and they will install the MHI w/Voice recognition there. Now I just have to order the bluetooth adaptor.

I can't wait to have the bluetooth mystery solved...
My stealer still does not have the bluetooth puck available, but it sounds like others have it already?
Also I have a 2004, no phone cradle that I can see, but I assume is pre-wired for the hands free MHI cradle? My understanding is that I would need the cradle installed then just plug in the puck. Can anyone offer insight, or ballpark price quotes?
Thank You

You can't 'just' put in the cradle and expect the phone to work.

BTW, knowing that you have a 2004 W211, you won't be able to retain Teleaid.

To use the MHI, I understand it costs:
~$950 for the basic "phone kit"
~$350 for the MHI cradle
a couple hours labor
Total project cost = ~$1600
Does that sound about right?
Why not just get a Parrot or Raytel installed at a stereo shop and save $1000.

I understand the attraction of running through COMAND, but it's a LOT of money for substandard voice quality.
I'm also pissed that MB charges so much for this when so many other companies (Audi, Acura, Infiniti, etc...) include bluetooth in "technology" packages.
