Track Day!!!

We had a blast at our Md track day today. We missed some of the regs (Wayne, Spero and others) but it was still a blast. Here are some of the times and cars that were there. We had a 57 Chevy that was running mid 12's, 03 Cobra that ran mid 12's, Cyclone low 12's, couple of new Vettes (not Z06) that were running low 12's, C32 running mid to low 12's and a CLS K4 running high 11's. I was the only E55 there and had my best times ever. My low time of the day was an 11.38 @ 122. That's with just pulley/ecu and headers. No other mods and I'm not running a drag radial. It was a great day.

That is a beautiful time. How the fuuuck do you get that beast to hook up so well. Please tell!!! I trap consistently at 122+mph but have only seen high 11s. I am not sure even DR will get me close to you.

Congrats!!!

Great day at the track. I think Derrick now holds the record for K2 times! Congrats! Jason probably has the record for C32's with no headers/nos and on street tires = 12.38!

Rock, it's all in the tires and track prep. It's not me. I'm running Toyo RA1's (not a true DR) and launch the car with ESP on. I can launch the car at times with it off and pull low 1.6's but I'm just not good enough to be consistant. You have to be smooth with the gas, but not lazy. I'm to the floor pretty quick. I think the biggest issues with most guys is tire pressure and where you're putting the car in the lane. If you can find the groove on the track with descent tires you'll hook.

Thanks Derrick,

I will be at the track in the next week or so. I did buy a set of DR yesterday to use as my dedicated track tires. I would love to see mid 11s.

Anyway, did you get a video of your run?

Excellent job that's definitely the fastest pulley and header combo that I have seen.
The kleeman headers might be bigger but the evo's seem to be working great.
I'm still trying to decide between the two. Have you been happy with your set so far ?.

So far I can't complain. I've been happy with the K1 setup and EVO headers. I think they make the same power but without having the headach of removing the cats. I do have video of my 11.39 pass and I think some guys have video of the 11.38 pass. I'll try to post what I have for you guys later.

AWESOME time buddy! Hard to imagine without DR's. no LSD you can hit 11.38. Goes to show you with a well prepped track, true DR's and LSD add no real world value. It would be hard to imagine that if you had LSD, and DR's that you would run any faster.

Now, if you add the Kleemann TB maybe

That's my next step I think. I'm still waiting to see some real world times with the TB before I spend the money. When does the Vette come in?

Exclamation LSD - Still One Wheel Drive!

04E55 AMG - I think you are correct, however only in near ideal conditions. The LSD transfers torque from ONE wheel to the other wheel when ONE of the wheels is slipping. So, if ONE wheel can hook and not spin then the LSD will remain neutral. Where the LSD helps, is in less than ideal conditions, which is most of the time, so LSD is a benefit at most Tracks and certainly during daily driving. - Bob

In real world conditions with dr's the lsd does absolutely nothing in my opinion. Until someone shows me some 1.59 60ft's with an lsd and dr's I will spend my money elsewhere.

rflow306, you're correct. I've been to the track 4 or 5 times now with my car along with other E's with LSD. Spero was the only LSD car to have a better 60' (1.64 to my 1.67) and he was running a true DR to my street tire. The lsd does nothing for you at the track (drag strip), you get all of your gains with the tires. LSD might help on the street but it's proven to be a waist of money at the drag strip.
