Hi folks,

Benn lurking for a while now, and visiting the "other" E55 forum as well. Seems like this one is better traveled, so hoping for conclusive feedback...

Would I be asking for trouble if I asked the service technician at my local M-B Center to tap a switched 12v source for a hardwired V1 installation? Would I be flagged in M-B's system forevermore?

I had no trouble finding the how-to's on the Bimmer boards (I'm coming from an '03 ///M3 SMG), but other than some reccos to wire to the cigarette lighter and route around the windshield frame/headliner (which I don't want to do for fear of interfering with operation of the side curtain airbags), I'm not seeing conclusive feedback on a wire to tap into in the overhead lighting console, or if it's even feasible.

Advice appreciated.
