Almost broken in
Almost broken in
Still have a few things left, but the make up portion is almost done and I can start to focus on tuning it!!

I don't know about others here but I drove mine hard from day one.
I learned my lesson with break-in procedures with my M3. I drove my E46 hard from the test drive on and at about 20k miles (no engine issues) I got a letter from BMW telling me there was a recall on the rod bearings. From some reason after they did the recall I nursed the damn thing and 150 miles in, the engine blew. I got a new engine two weeks later and dumped it the same day. I got a 996TT and never looked back.

I've always been pretty religious with the break in period. I basically keep it under 3K RPMs to 500 miles and under 4-5K max till 1000. Then, I start to use it up to 5K, when I really open it up!!
Funny thing is I've had both good and bad experiences.
I had an M3 that I totally babied and it ended up with pitted cams (sign of NOT being babied) with about 50K on it. Oh well.

I don't have an E but I imagine the break in period is the same for all cars?
I didn't follow the break in period for the first 100 miles. Now I'm pretty good with it, although I have redlined the thing a FEW times.
