I think it depends on where you live...roasting hot area of the country and it's probably needed. In Chicago it's not real necessary and is strictly cosmetic IMO. I personally like the MB tint as it is. Another thing to consider is re-sale. Many people wouldn't want a tinted car...myself included so they would not look twice at one that has already been done. It all boils down to personal choice...you paid for the car so do whatever you feel like doing and don't look back.

No tint for me. Main reason is that MB's "blue glass" is already the best looking "tint."
Other thing to consider, if you care about resale value (if money no object, buy 2 identical cars and only tint one!), is how hard it is to undo tint. Don't know if it's easy or hard to undo. Some people think tint is tacky so it becomes like trying to trade in a car in an underappreciated color (e.g., my buddy's light green Boxster, which the dealers really tried to screw him on).

I don't like the look of really dark limo-tinting either; it looks really lame. Instead, i've put on the 35% tint all around (except the windshield, obviously). it's nice b/c it darkens the windows enough to look cool and classy, but you can still see in/out. in so.cal, tint is pretty much mandatory, especially if you do any driving in the desert (i.e. to vegas, palm springs, etc.) -- you'll broil yer azz off without it, and have to run the a/c so high you'll go deaf b/c of cranking up the audio just to hear above all the noise. tint clearly has more beneficial effects on the driving experience than strictly cosmetic!

I have the 35% tint too. Even up here in NE, if you park your car out in the sun for a little while, the seats will burn your butt. With the ceramic tint that I have, the car is a lot cooler provided that if I don't park it facing the sun directly.

I have yet to decide whether i really want the SL tinted 35% all around (except the windshield)....but I did get my lexus tinted with 3M film...20% on the back half and rear windshield and 50% on front sides...all for $104 (including tax)...long story short...i wasnt totally satisfied with the quality of the job and got $150 of the $254 i originally paid, back..so i essentially got a "near-professional" tint job done for the cost of me doing the tints myself...making me quite

Unless you are in such a hot climate that you need the sun protection, tint just makes your gorgeous, classy Mercedes look like a ghetto ride!!

it depends on the color of the car to me, if it was a black car i would tint...seeing that i have alabaster white...i think the car would have a much cleaner look without tints.

I agree with this. I think a black car looks sharp with added tint, but I think the silver and white cars look real nice with the classic blue tint.

bpasha, you're right about that; i agree that dark tint on light colored cars is a surefire way to cheapen the car's appearance. on the other hand, regardless of the car, tint jobs that don't do the front door windows or do them in a lighter shade always look strange to me. one reason i go with a not-too-dark tint is so that i can reasonably get away with it on the front as well as the other windows (front window tinting is verboten here in the people's republic of kalifornia).

Then again we are probably all hoodlums and drug dealers here in South Florida.

I'm not really sure which looks better, but I like my privacy.
Edit: 20% rear, 35% front sides

How do you mean? It is not the best before and after as the top pics are a different time of year, lighting, angle, and location, then the bottom two after tinting but it's about all I have. It;s the same car however and only the windows changed.
