Ported TB from 73 mm to 76.2 mm

Loren
Based on your info, I would assume that TB configuration is no longer available through parts dept... otherwise, why would Kleemann supply the 80mm from the V12TT and go through all the trouble of building an adapter plate and an electronic interface adapter??
I wonder if there is any way to track down the part # for this unit???

I spoke to my parts guy and he confirmed that there are 3 different part # for the 2003 SL55 TB. I also confirmed with him that they did in fact produce a limited number of SL55 with the 80mm TB.
The only hurdle I have now is to figure out which Part # corresponds to the 80mm TB. If you can PM your VIN # for your car I would be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL, as I can then match the VIN # to the correct part # for the TB.
I would like to purchase this TB and see if I can get it to bolt on to my E55 as this is a direct replacement part and only requires opening up the supercharger inlet to 80mm.. No adapter plate or wiring harness changes are necessary..
This will also help out alot of people on the board as I know alot of them are interested in this modification.
I would really appreciate it if you could PM the VIN #. I will keep it confidential.
Thank you in advance.

Just kidding. WIN is on its way.
You are the best!! A million thanks for sending me the VIN#.. I just forwarded it to the parts guy to confirm which part # for the TB.. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can oder one and try it out.
Will let everyone know how it goes once I get my hands on it.
Thanks again!
Victor

LOL, I ran out of $$. Baby on the way and the Wife would veto it even if I asked. I need to consult on the side! I still have a hard time paying 4-6K installed for those cams.
I paid 1.5K and got 43 rwhp on my old Supra.

It was only available in Europe so the Part does not show up on a North American MB Dealer's parts computer.
I placed the order and should have it in my hands within 1 week. Will post more info once I have the TB in my hands. Hopefully this will bolt right on without any further modifications.
Want to pass along my THANK YOU to SLCharger!!!! He helped make this happen!
Stay tuned....

Two questions:
1) How much did the 80mm TB cost?
2) What is involved in opening the supercharger inlet to 80mm?
Thanks
Is the part number somewhere visible so we can check our own cars?
Us non-USA owers with 2003's just might be in luck - nice if we could check the part or the VIN# of our cars.
thanks.

2) Since this part is from an SL55, I am *HOPING* that it will be a direct bolton to the supercharger inlet requiring only the enlargement of the metal gasket that goes between the TB and the supercharger inlet, and the enlargement of the supercharger inlet itself. Doing the enlargement can be done very easily with a hand dremel tool with the supercharger still installed in the vehicle.
I'll confirm all of this information once I have it in my hands and have had a chance to look it over. Once I know it will work for sure, I'll share all the info and availability information.
The trick will be trying to get more of them. My parts guy pulled some strings and got one rush delivered for us. I just dont know how difficult it will be to get more of them if it turns out to be a viable solution.
I was told earlier tonight that they are expediting the shipping and it should be here in 3 - 4 days.
Hang in there.. This should be interesting.
I dont have the Part # in my hands.. My parts guy found it by entering in the VIN # I received and it supplying the Part # for the correct TB for that particular car.
Once I receive the package, I'll confirm the Part # for you guys.

From the sounds of it from Mike at Evo the cost to port the stock TB to 76mm and to change the butter fly plate is a whopping $1300.
How can that be possible. What am i missing here?
I paid $200 -- 1.5 hours for install and 1.5 hours for porting the front part. Maybe I will just ask to buy the butter fly piece.

This obviously will help power and must be the easiest and safest mod we can do to our cars.... sounds like its worth 20-30HP judging from SLChargers comments.
I cannot wait to see if it works out.
Rgds Steve.
I just cant understand how it isn't a bolt on piece. Did MB really change so many things on the SL55 just to detune it ??? I would expect the mounting position is identical except that the supercharger inlet is enlarged.. but, then again, what do I know..
Keeping my fingers crossed... Thanks for the update.
