20" Wheels Rubbing

Hello everyone... I got a question for anyone who's got 20's on their W211... Are you guys having any issues with rubbing in the front while turning onto driveways? If so, did you have to have work done to the front fenders to solve the rubbing issue. Thanks.

Eric

i have 245/30 20 and 285/25/20 plus kleemann lowering module. when backing out of my driveway and turning the wheel the front tires seem to slightly rub the inside of the wheelwell(plastic innerwell) but no reason to worry.

I am running on 245/35 20 and 275/30 20, stock height... when going over bumps & driveways head-on, it's fine. But when I turn the wheels to go up driveways the tire will grab the front fender and push that section out. I've had to pound fender back in shape with the rubber mallet twice so far.

Your front wheels are 680mm in diameter vs. 653 stock and the rears are 673.
Of course they will rub. They might even come close to the control arm bolt at the top of the front wheel!
You should have gone 245/30/20 and 285/25/20 which are in the 650-653 mm range.

Thanks for the advice guys! I was a bit worried that I would have to get rid of the 20s or get fender work done. I'll give the 245/30s & 285/25s a shot, hopefully that would solve the problem.

Oh yeah... the tires are Falkens.

Thanks again!

Front 255/35/19 ET35, but would prefer ET30. ET25 fits too, but steering gets hard and wheels stick out looking stupid.

Rear 285/30/19 ET38, 3 credit cards (2.4mm) gap remaining on full compression

NO rubbing with ET 38 ???

Do you have a pics of your car with ET 38 and ET33...I want to compare...

I think I might jsut have to roll the fender and keep ET33 or ET35

I don't think you are reading these posts, even though you respond promptly.
1.From the start I've been saying: ET38=NO rubbing.
2. Where rubbing occurrs on ET33 and less, you CAN'T roll, plastic can only be filed but you might damage the bracket and the corner of your rear bumper will hang down.
3. I already posted all those photos before and I am sure nobody else here want's to see another offset comparison as long as they live...

Sorry guys...I jsut want it to see side by side comparision...

Anyways Carlsson says there shouldnt be any probs with ET 35...but too many people say that there will be, so I cant really make my mind UP...

I think I am going to swap to 275/30's...

Hey Guys,

I have a 05 E500 4MATIC with the air suspension. I'm looking at some rims and need to know if 9*20's will fit? Anyone have any thoughts with this? Thanks.

cheers,

Ken
