News re new 6.2L motor variants.
Well good news ... the turbo versions of the 6.2L will find its way into cars based on the E-Class platform. (Source CAR (UK) June). It seems this is more than likely going to be the W212 rather than the W211, but I speculate. I cannot imagine the E getting turbo version before the SL / S class.
This leads me to think that getting an N/A E63 is somewhat pointless maybe if you are already in an E55 - or what?
The V8Kompressor motor will be phased out over the next 2 years.
I think these Kompressor cars could well end up being pretty decent collectables - anyway I digress.
Interesting interview about the old engine and the new one and why turbos and not a Kompressor will be used. Basically boils down to efficiency - AMG reckon the S/C uses around 100hp to run so its not the most efficient method of F/I, while turbos are.
Bottom line is we are in for some serious power down the line for our beloved sedans - so get your wallets ready.... I dont think the top spec cars will come cheap.
