Lightweight Wheels & Rotors-Do they really help performance?
Fellow E55 members - I'm looking to go to Lightweight wheels and rotors that if advertised properly will save me 64 lbs. of rotating mass.
Yes - that is 16 lbs/per/corner!
Does anyone have first hand experience to say I'll really notice a difference or is it just sales hype??
If it is an improvement-anyone give me any ideas as to what I'll experience?
I'm willing to take the plunge and report as long as I'm not wasting $'s!
Any help appreciated - Thanks:

I have 2004 and I have on order the EvoSport light weight Grooved Rotors, Padig pads and front lower control arms with the stiffer bushings. I should receive them in about a week or two. I am also getting steel brake line and will be switching to racing fluid. I will also get out the possibility of doing air ducts.
The other thing I want to do is get lighter and wider wheels.
If you want to share info that's great.

Unsprung weight is all the hype- whether you notice it or not is based on how much you drop. On my car I have wheels and rotors that have saved me about a combined 80lbs (average of 20 per corner). I dont think there is an empirical translation but most experts say that for each lb of unsprung weight is equal to 4 lbs of sprung weight. Does that mean I took a 320 lb person out of my car- I cant be exactly sure but the difference is definitely there. I was driving my beast with two other people the other day and they weighed about 450 lbs combined and the car just wasnt as fast- dont get me wrong the car still kicked butt but you could tell especially from the launch position.
You will definitely notice the difference in launches (with 64lbs being dropped). My car just feels much lighter and more responsive off the line.

Thanks Vic - Just have to decide whether the whole set-up is worth the bucks!? Total wheels/Tires/Rotors will be $6K leaving stock.
For that money I'de like to see some gain in Performance?
Thanks again.
