Basic Performance Mods

So, I bought filters, and I was thinking of sending the ECU out, but I've got questions.

1.) Does changing the ECU affect the warranty?
2.) If so, what are the odds that it will be seen/caught when performing routine maintenance? If caught, do they even care?
3.) It's a lease, when I turn it back in, should I change the ECU back, or just let it be? Does it matter? If so, will it cost the same amount to revert back to its original status?

Thanks all...

Yes, if the modified ECU is deemed responsible for a part and/or system failure.
Yeah, a blown engine it could get ugly.

If caught, do what O.J. would do.............deny, deny, deny. Actually, most dealers could give a crap. Your car belongs to the lease company or Mercedes, not the dealership.

You can put the ECU back to stock form if needed.

One other note, I'm not sure what kind of increased power you will get from a ECU upgrade only. The ones that I am familiar with (stage I) also require you to switch to a larger SC belt.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback

The big question for me I guess is whether I buy out at the end of the lease or not. It seems sinking all that coin to only enjoy for 2+ years isn't worth it. I'm a big fan of getting into new cars, but at the same time, I'd love to tweak the one I have and enjoy it for a while. Maybe in a couple of years I'll be able to keep this one and still buy a new one! Then, I'd have the best of both worlds...
