But we're talking here about the more popular, or should I dare say: "affordable" supercars..

If such a term exists!!

I'm thinking if we're talking about Michael Schumacher here he's not all that worried about affordability.... if he comes up behind you... it's over

It's a shame that MB decided to go for a naturally aspirated engine whereas other manufacturers are improving induction methods.
Oh, they will but they are saving the good stuff to sell more cars at a later time. It's their marketing strategy, as well as just about every high-end car manufacturer in the World, and has been so for quite some time. They don't want to put all their cards on the table when they don't need to do so. All they need to do is to make a car that will smack the M5 back into its place past 100 mph, handle a little better, stop a little quicker, get a little better mileage, and, as a whole, be slightly better than the outgoing E55K.

Mercedes will sell the normally aspirated E63 for a few years, like they did with the 210 E55. Get everyone used to the naturally aspirated engine but leave room for improvement so if someone else comes a knockin' they can smack them back down. Once they build the E63 twin-turbo, everyone that's a true performance nut will sell/trade-in their NA E63 for the TT model.

That's exactly what I thought of E63's mission in MB's product plan. It's a GAP vehicle. It will keep everyone somewhat entertained until the E63TT or E65TT comes out in a few year. That's why we should all keep our E55K's around and then do a group buy/group trade-in for the E6X Twin Turbo "Uber Saloon or Super Sedan" in just a few years.

2004 E320 with AMG bodykit
Seems like a smart marketing plan to me!

I didn't think of it that way (nor was I aware of an upcoming E65TT!)

It sure does, it is called the C6Z06. Having a MSRP under $70K and does the 1/4 in low 11's stock. Best value of any supercar ever

Exactly, IMHO, it's the last of this body type before they introduce a completely new model and completely different design.

I did a run with a friend with a 996TT and it outran my SL55 by a margin. Esp. the Porsches 4WD makes a difference on launch.

Lets not talk about bends in the road
