Sill plate fell off.

Sill plate fell off.
My drivers side sill plate fell off. Can I drive it like this or should I have it towed? 
Seriously, though. The plate is held on by three very thin plastic clips which are broken. If I replace the clips I'm pretty sure they'll break again the next time my left foot catches the sill on the way into the car. Anybody have this problem? Would double-sided foam tape work better?
