Can I buy a STAR diagnostic?
Can I buy the little cable and software to setup a little system? Just wet dreaming here, but wanted to know. Is it a couple $k or more like $50k.

You can get WIS very easily and the same goes for the Star diag software. The big issue is getting the multiplexer and the associated connections.
These parts are very expensive and mb regulates who gets them fairly carefully.
Companies in the far east make these multiplexers and sell them at a reduced rate but we are still talking in the thousands for the parts.
