What rims have the least spokes?

Does anyone know of some quality rims with minimal spokes? I like the HRE C21, but it is a bit played so i wanted a new look. I want to go ahead and at least order them since it may take time.

Do you like big fat spokes, or thin spokes?

I would prefer thin, but I'd take fatter ones if there were less of them.

Check out the HRE 542R or the 545R

They are five spoke rims I believe.
The HRE 845R is also very nice.

That's the HRE offerings, there are a lot more out there. I know D2 Autosport has a great selection with pictures on their website.

WOW, thanks for the response guys. That is EXACTLY the look I am after. Of those, I do love the 845R or 545R.

Anyone have any feedback on the Maya and CCW vs HRE overall? I come from a LOONG loyalty to BBS and don't know jack about anything else other than HRE. If I'm gonna spend the dough, I don't just want looks, I want it to be a performance upgrade, too.

Thanks guys. Also, any thoughts on color / lip surface, etc? I go back and forth between Black / Black and not. I don't think I want chrome, but I am pretty open other than that.

thanks again

Hmmm, not to twist the tale, but does anyone have the C22s on their ride? I may like that color?

Oh yeah, I am wanting 18" rims.

CCW is one piece forged, so it's light and strong. Plus, it won't trap water like the 3 piece HREs. I just bought a set of Maya STM. Heard they are light, and Vic55 used to have a set of those before he got his HRE Competition

thx ricky, that site is what I needed.

can you guys list a couple of (3-5) companies that make nice quality rims? I know I should search, and I swear i have and and I have been watching as everyone is getting different things. I just wonder if there is some consensus on who the top 5 wheel manufacturers are for our rides? I know HRE, but I don't know if iForged are better / worse / close, etc.

The STM's are the lightest of the Maya collection but they bend easy. The Maya's pictured here are probably about 30 lbs so your unsprung weight will take a fat hit. The CCW's have the best construction along with HRE's IMO. Of course I have the C21's and but they are not really the leanest when it comes to reducing spokes but weight wise they are the lightest coming in at 20.5 lbs at each corner.

So, you like CCWs? I'm not necessarilly looking to reduce the number of spokes. I was just hoping for an "open" look. I love the C21s and the weight is important to me. Hmmm, maybe the C22s??

So, for now I'll look at HRE and CCW. Any others?

Hehe, thanks VIC55. You da man and a great resource.

As far as HREs, how do you feel between the competition series and the others? I only care about performance (weight, etc.)

thanks

I am really happy with my CCW wheels. Their service is fantastic, plus they are made 40 miles from me. I was strongly considering Maya or HRE but I took a ride over to CCW. I walked in off the street and John took the time to show me his entire manufacturing process from forging to polishing. It was a no-brainer for me who to go with. It's comforting knowing they are a short drive away. The polished Aluminum wheels are high maintenance and a b!tch to keep clean. Wheel wax or some other protection is mandatory. I get a lot of comments on the massive AMG brake calipers visible thru the open spokes.

I, too, like the 845s and the CCWs. I wonder if the HREs require as much maintenance as the polished CCWs? Anybody know? I also like the HRE competition series, especially the C22s

Haha.. The MB star. Hmmm, I wonder what that would look like on my ride??

Jeff, please do let me know. I checked on the web before and it looked like they were the same weight as the AMG Style IVs (Stock). I was hoping to drop about 10lbs per wheel and then add on the floating rotors for a bit more response.

Sound like it can happen and make a difference or am I dreaming?
