Kleemann/RENNtech/Evosport

had been debating stage 1 w/ (<) or RT (all i could get boss at home to prob. sign off on for now), but saw the evolution pkg from evo for $3995- (ex-labor, obvious). seems given potential hp & tq gains (~550 & 613) vs the other two for the money, it may be among best value...thoughts on this and company product reliability/support? thanks Klub.

I am also on this fence. I prefer RENNTech, and have heard of better pricing, but it looks like they are going to just be about the same as Kleeman (at best). What all are you getting for that price on the EVO? Keep in mind that although the parts may be a price factor, so is labor. Each tuner's parts take a different amount of time, depending on if a straight bolt on or if modification is needed, etc.
Can anyone comment on the recent "issues" with EVO's pulley and if they have been resolved?

As far as the reputations go, I think you are safe with all three you mentioned. I only prefer RennTech because they have the nuts to claim a warranty incase MB has an issue. They are also carb legal, since all you get is a header, and no mods to your other parts. is that the most performance? Dunno, but getting anywhere near 100 extra hp and TQ AND staying legal and warrantied is a pretty sweet deal.

I had Rennetch Stage 1 on my E55 and LOVED it...had Kleemann K2 on my CL55 and was just so so about it (but Spero loved his K3 in his E55). I sawe an Evo Stage 2 pull the best numbers at the track.

My advise is talk to all 3 tuners, who ever you feel more comfortable with I would go with them. Ultimately they're all good tuners. Good luck with your choice, you will be happy with whoever you go with.

thanks E55Power,

leaning to RENNtech-1 at this point given warranty support if ever an issue. seems that flash+pulley is a good extra bump...not sure if extra $4k for RT-2 (airbox) given incremental gain is cost effective at this juncture. thanks for advice (you too Jangy).

With RENN, I would stop at stage IV. The box is a bit of show, IMO.

Again, what EVO stuff you offered for that money?? Also, from who (I mean the actual seller, is it EVO themselves?)

evosport-designed fully dampened overdrive crankshaft pulley
evosport-designed black anodized billet aluminum underdrive pulley kit (water pump, alternator & power steering, belt)
Powerchip/evosport custom-tuned evolution 1 software

Power Gains (CA 91 Octane)*:
+3 Lbs Boost (0.2 bar), +45 HP, +55 Ft/Lbs torque

evolution1 intro. special $3995.00 for supercharged v8 (e55)

**hp & tq gains (~550 & 613)-these were listed under header too, but not aligned w/ above hp/tq gains given where we run stock...not sure why????
Jangy,

this is from evosport website under Merc tuning options. hope this helps.

It does. Check into RENN's price for just pulley and ECU, since that is all you are looking at. By the time it is installed, it will be about $2K difference (based on what I was quoted). I was also looking at an upgraded SC cooler pump and the EVO rotors, but no dice on a package deal, so no DICE at all.
