E55 faster than E63!

The German Carmagazine (Auto, Motor und Sport) tested the E63 against the M5:

Technische Daten
BMW M5/Mercedes E 63 AMG
373 kW (507 PS)/378 kW (514 PS)
0-100 km/h 4.7 s/4.9 s

The E 55 is always tested in 4,4 s 0-100!!!!!

Maybe this is what counts:
1. Mercedes E 63 AMG 510 of 650 Points!
2. BMW M5 503 of 650 Points!

Old Article.....

Most of us have seen that before. Questions were raised as to the testing conditions. The M5 w/ launch control was very slow at 4.7s. If you think about all the tests done w/ LC you usually hear that the M5 does 0-60 in 4.1-4.2 which is actually faster than the 0-60 of stock E55. Anyway, if LC is only 2/10's faster than the E63 then again that puts us at around the estimated 4.3-4.4 0-60 that MB is predicting. May still be faster. Oh well, we'll see...... Don't hang you hat on those results alone. More to follow. You may in deed be correct though. Time will tell......

E55 does the 0-100 km/h (62,5 mls) in 4,4 s. So the 0-60 in just 4,2/4,3!

Same German magazine (several tests with several cars)

700 NM torq. that's never to win for the E 63!

Testing conditions....

I understand what you are saying but do you honestly think that a Euro spec M5/M6 w/ launch control is slower than an E55? All other tests point to the contrary so the simple fact that they could only get the M5 at 4.7s is odd in and of itself. As I stated, time will tell......

Yes, I'm sure that in the real world the E 55 will be faster than the M5. You have to know that the launch control can be used just for one time (it must be cool down for a while to use it again)! So when you challenge a M5 for more as one traffic light sprint (in real world this will happen) you degrade the M5. Because you can do the same thing over and over and over again with you're lovely 700 NM baby!

I've tracked (15-20 laps) my car and a CLS55 at Thunderhill in 100+ degree temp and never had my s/c shut down.

I've driven my car pretty hard, too. Never had a shutdown issue either. Maybe I am just lucky.
