How about this ... 7sp E63 tranny for E55?

How about this mod ..? Its a major mod but sheez what a car that would be no ??? Or do the engines power characteristics not suit a 7 sp tranny?

Also - if your E55 is modded more than a good chance the tranny gets roasted...

Any way to make the 7sp more roubst?

Not a good idea. Do a search, the 7 sp. can't even handle the torque of a stock 55k engine. Fuggghetaboutit.

Yup, per AMG, you'd be filling up with Premium and changing tranny's weekly.

It's the whole core to the problems many have with the new E63. Virtually unmoddable while in the same breath VRUS is approaching 700hp on his E55 and the tranny still holds solid.......bummer on AMG for this.

I was perusing the Kleemann site to check out the SLK55 S8 and noticed that the newest version has a SC 500HP 5.4 liter engine coupled to the new 7 speed automatic. How does Kleemann do it? Do they beef the tranny up or just hope it doesn't detonate. Maybe it has to do with the weight of the vehicle, 4000 lbs vs 3200lbs.

There's really no point in it. The 5-speed is very well matched to the engines torque characteristics. The reason that the new car needs the 7-speed is because the powerband is more narrow and needs the extra gears to keep it in the power curve.

It isn't a HP issue, it is a TQ issue.
