Talking E55 Yes, E63 NO!

Well it's been one month now since RJC and myself began discussions on my taking over his lease on his 2006 E55. To make a long story short, here are some pictures of the car being sent from Boca Raton, Florida to Corte Bella, Arizona. The ETA is this Monday August 21st and I'm feeling good again!

Thumbs up E63 Test Drive

Vetluver: The honest answer is no. But the delta in cost and the "known factor" of the E55 made it an easy decision. The comments made by folks who took test drives that had driven and owned E55's for some time carried a lot of weight with me!

Why did RJC give up his car? What car is he getting to replace his beloved E55?

He's getting a 07' Porsche Carrerra. Says he not a sedan Man, but strictly a coupe kinda guy. This just was a nobrainer for me. Man, I really missed my E55 after I sold it. I was hoping the E63 would fill the void but I was really dissapointed by the test drive comments of 99.9% of the E55 owners. Also, Financially this was a "Killer" deal for me!

Hey Guys:

The E55 was my first 4 door car ever, my main reasons for getting the car was 1) an incredible deal and the spec's I wanted, thanks to AJF1 2) I always had a great deal of respect for the E55 3) I knew 06 was the last year for the mighty E55 4) I buy and sell cars very, very often; I'm in my mid 40's and have had over 37 to date.

I've been driving MB's as my primary car for the last several years but prior to I was driving mostly Porsche 911's, both turbo and non, so I ordered a 2007 Carrera S in Carrara White over Black with lots of goodies including the new 2007 Twin Turbo forged rims, I'll have the car in mid Oct and I'll post pics for sure.

The E55 was an amazing car, so powerful yet so smooth. I was also very impressed Porsche made it to the #1 spot in the recent JD Power initial quality ratings...something MB has not seen in a long time and needs badly. Although I had a few concerns with my 55 (like most of the MB's I owned over the years) the combo of MB's distintive styling, comfort and power is what always brought me back. Who knows maybe there will be another three pointed star in the garage someday.

I called Horseless Carriage yesterday and they checked where it's at via their GPS tracking system and the Van was in Texas moving west. I estimate that it's somewhere in New Mexico now. I'll call Horseless Carriage tomorrow morning to get a final location before it arrives (Yeah Baby!)

Bob, congrats on the 997. If I order a TT (who am I kidding, it's more like when?) white is high up on the list. I go between white and cobalt mostly, some days red LOL.

I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy the p-car as much as I am. It truly is a joy to drive. 5 old months and already 8,000 miles Just did a round trip today from L.I. to Phila to take my mother in law to spend a few days with her ill sister. It was a great drive and scored points with my wife and in-laws

I'm trying to convince my wife to dump her ML500 and get an E63 or some type of sports sedan so I can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Thanks 2k6...I'll be hanging around and my "spirit" will live through the new owner lol. I'll post pics of the 997S when he arrives sometime in Oct. BTW, I drove a 650 BMW coupe w/ sports pkg today, very nice car and very well made!. The M6 should be amazing but the smg trans is a giant turn off. I also drove the new Jag XK today, they tuned the exhaust to sound like a Covette ; the lines of the coupe are awesome but the car just seemed to have no soul. I'm sure the XK"R" version due out later this year will be better but by then I hope to be in my 911.

Hey Chris how goes it? I am in pergatory until the 997S arrives!!! The twin turbo is hot! BTW, I ordered the new 07 twin turbo forged 19's for my S. Hope the wife's sister is feeling better. If you need some extra prayers let us know.

Talking TopGun32: Costs of Transport

I picked the highest mostly because of their reputation and from some references. I used Horseless Carriage and it cost me $2035 to ship the 06' E55 from Boca Raton Florida to Phoenix Arizona. I had quotes from other shippers on the same distance that were about $400 less, but I wanted confirmed enclosed shipping and trusted what I heard about Horseless Carriage. Good Luck on your E55!!!

Intercity is on the same par as Horseless...fuel prices have really hurt us on transport costs. If you are PATIENT and can wait a couple weeks for pick up you can squeeze a better deal..or go on stand by. Hard to be patient when you are dying to get something !!!
