Agreed the tyre is 285 instead of the 275 recommendation - but surely it would still fit No ?

The 275 has narrower tread so the sidewall tapers from the rim like a steep roof.When the rear suspension compresses with a camber roll, the top of the tyre folds in neatly just missing the fender.
The 285 is taller and has a wider tread, so on the same 9.5" rim it's sidewalls are square and 5mm wider. When the suspension compresses the corner of the tyre will not squeeze past the leading and trailing edges of the fender.
If the Tire Rack recommends this tyre on the ET31 rim, ask them to keep two more in stock to replace the first two
Oh sorry, Michelin does not make these any more!
