break in ? and tips on restraint
Picking up my e63 in the Am tomorrow. Opinions please regarding strictly adhereing to 1000 mile break-in period, keeping RPM under 4000.
Let me say first, I will not be beating the snot out of this car, but 4000Rpm sounds a bit overly conservative. To follow it to the "T", I will be mustering restraint I did not have 5 years ago. Sidebar: Last go-fast car I bought new, '02 911, I believe I banged it off the rev-limiter leaving the dealer's lot. That will not happen tomorrow!!!
I am thinking if I keep it off the carpet and away from the rev-limiter and I should be okay No
??TIA,
DW
The rest of the car isn't.
Don't baby it, don't rape it. Take it easy but exercise the car through the RPMs. That sounds like the most rational advice mixing in all schools of thought.
