I dont know anybody that has one. If you do, please invite them so we can settle the debate. Consider this an open call to any 63's that want to come to a fun track day at capitol raceway in maryland.

WAIVE OFF WAIVE OFF WAIVE OFF. Car didn't arrive until late yesterday and I had to leave at 6 this morning to make testing at Sebring. Sorry for the tease as I was up for it but no go. Thanks for the takers, we'll get it done.

I'll get the car Tuesday and will break it in on the Gainesville dragstrip Wednesday night.

Man, Dragon's recent encounter with a CLK63 has me a bit nervous. That thing stood up and walked him off the line and has less hp correct??

I guess stock to stock, it looks like the 63 might actually do this only for great traction it gets off the line, then monster upper end power.

Ahhh GREAT!!! Just when I passed the 15K mark in mods in my car. Son of aaaaaaaa.

Ohio is my part of town. I have my video camera in hand. A K2 vs E63 match up?

Mid-Ohio raceway?

So are you a taker? If you spin wheels of course any car will get the jump. I am talking about a good launch from both cars. I will be joining the E55 brotherhood soon

True... Honestly after racing that CLK63, I think the E63 may indeed be just a tad bit faster than a stock E55. For the simply fact that the CLK63 hooked up instantly off the line (less torque) easier to manage from a dig. Couple that with the new 7sp tranny, which I heard just buzzing through gears and it may be just a bit faster. If I would have hooked up, I think I would have had him by at least 6-7 cars similar to that of a stock E55. We'll know for sure on the 15th of September!!!!

Jackpro -- to answer your question about the CLK63 having less power. It has 486hp compard to the 516 of the E63 (as you know it may just be a marketing thing, just like the E55) and wind up having the same as the E63.

Even if the E63 is faster than the stock E55, who cares... we still have 100 more hp and gobs more torque (which kinda hurts us too... LOL) on our E55 K2's. This was clearly evident in how I came back and passed him with ease. That being said, if the E63's tranny rating with respect to hp & torque wasn't so low, I'd be the first one to trade w/ only to slap a TT or S/C on it. But that is not the case, you're limited to keeping it pretty much stock being that it's already pretty close to it's limit.

I wouldn't be too worried... I mean, he'll be the first to admit most cars will take him off the line if he loses traction in his K2.

I mean, with the E55 you can spin and go no where, right? Now imagine a K2 doing it. It is so much harder to recover and start over when you lose it in the K2. Remember that video with Ara... K2 versus stock... that I made? I had monster hook up problems, which is why the stock E55 took me off the line. And its worth noting I had ESP ON!!!!! Until 40 that light is flashing like a disco light. The torque problem is much more profound in the K2 and up setups. A Gremlin could take a spinning K2 off the line. So, until someone figures out a way to get bigger or stickier (not drag radial) tires in our K2's, we will perpetually be deciding between:

1) ESP off... the delicate feathering of the throttle so you don't lose traction, because if you do, you're going no where. If you maintain it, you're flying like a sling shot.

2) ESP ON... you'll get the on and off jerkiness of ESP struggling to shake hands with the road until you hit 40 or so.

3) Driving on Drag radials all the time.

I will say as much as I love the monster in the K2, I do find the 7 speed and the power band of the E63 a relief on paper. It builds up that speed and will be much less inclined to prematurely end things with gobs of torque at the bottom.

We're hurricane free in California... on 9/15, we'll have tons of E63-E55-K2-M5-M6 times to talk about. Its less than two weeks away, so the end is near...

..........what this means is that the greatest beneficiary of the new AMG engine are the CLK and the ML which prior to now had AMG variants with 350HP. The CLK63 finally brings the CLK into the big boys table performace wise. Wait till the C63 gets relesed, then you'll have the C Class AMG variant in the same performance leaue as the E63 and perharps even faster than the S63. The C63 and CLK63 are "detuned?"...............I hope no real AMG enthusiast seriosly believes this. Of course the use of the same engine in the entire AMG line up has been done before with the previous NA AMG engine in the W210, W208, W220 ect. For those that want to stand out, it means you now have to buy a 65.

........Mercedes decided not to bring the CLK63 coupe to North America because the previous CLK55 coupe did not sell well here. The reason it did not sell well was because it was priced in the same range as the W211 E55 and had 150HP less. Who then would buy it? Now that the CLK63 is an equal player, MB would have stood to sell plenty of them in North America if they had brought the coupes. I don't think Mercedes and AMG know their customers very well. I predict that the flops next year are going to be the new S63 and the CL63. Nobody will buy them.
