Jangy, wish I knew, the only guy is my MB tech and have not seen him ever since, sorry. I am trying to get in contact with him as a few people are asking me, but have no response.
Yes. The setting for 93 octane is available in Star.. I can change it but from what I've heard the cars are optimized for fuel by leaving them at the default setting of "baseline". I was told that the ECU adapts for fuel octane when at that setting and that if I switched it to 93 it would make things worse.
There are also other settings for fuel enrichment where you can make the mixture a bit richer or leaner.
I havent fiddled with them because my car already has a modified ECU file and those settings are only recommended to be changed on a STOCK ECU file.

So in a place like Texas where we get 93 as premium already, and have driven on it for the past 10000 miles, would this 93 setting help or hurt? Conflicting opinions.. If it is true that 93 setting plus new freeflow airfilters (then maybe tweaking A/F ratio a little) might add 15 or 20 horses?

sorry to reply to an old thread , i know that this replay is 15 years late but who knows maybe it could help someone who is searching like me
the sitting for ignition in MB star or DAS is clearly mentioning ( RON 89, 91 and 93) European numbers which is equal to ( MON 85, 87 and 89) American Numbers so setting ur ignition to 93 RON will actually reduce the ignition timing which will reduce power.

ARAL (BP) in Germany offers 102 RON (no ethanol) which in the U.S. is the equivalent to about 97 PON. While my Queen of Stealth is a U.S. Version (with U.S. plate), it has been tuned for the higher RON. Here's a modest example on the A60 Autobahn.
