MP3 Question
Hello Everyone
I have 04 E55 AMG. I can't use MP3 on my car. Does anyone has any idea about that ? or my car is missing that fuction. Thanks

I had the same problem on mine. Have the dealer perform the following:
For the COMAND not playing MP3's:
DTB - 82.60/382
Published 9/20/2004
You will then be able to play MP3s in the COMAND but you still won't be able to play MP3s in the changer.

It's not an input command but rather a DTB or Dealer Technical Bulletin. MAD TDK is right, it's new software for the COMAND. If you give the dealer the info that I posted, they will know what to do with it. That DTB will allow you to play MP3 cd's in the single slot on the COMAND but you still won't be able to play MP3s in the CD changer.

Yeah man...good luck. Another thing.....after they perform the update, you will no longer be able to access the engineering mode of the COMAND. Don't know if that's a big deal for you or not. But after they updated mine, I could no longer access that portion of the COMAND.

Not a problem, really. Ive accessed the engeneering menu a couple of times before (I think that was where you were supposed to enable DVD or MP3 or something) but I wasn't able to change anything significant. Everything else was just jibborish to me. Have you found any use of the menu? Should I reconsider?

I went into the engineering mode once before they updated it. Seems like you can do more harm than good in there. But, I'm an engineer by trade so I like screwing with stuff, it's just built in me. Go ahead and get the upgrade, that way you can listen to MP3's. You'll be fine.

If they do the DTB to play MP3s in the Comand, can you still play a cd in the Comand?

Hey guys, I have tried and tried to get into this to ACTIVATE my mp3 playing.. but can't pull up the backdoor softbuttons. I have an 03 NAV replacement E Class and can pull up the Engineering mode with the END, MUTE, SERV keys... but I have tried and tried the # * and left arrow and nothing... is there a software issue with mine (maybe too old?) or am I just not doing something right. I have turned used the 357 trick to have my unit act in the Euro fashion and have the DVD in motion turned out, and rds plays on the radio, etc. I would like to add the mp3 in the headunit but cant pull it out.
Do I need to turn the unit back on to USA mode.. then pull up the backdoor deal.. then change it back? Anyways, thanks for your help.

Does this DTB apply to US COMAND models? Also, can a similar software update be done to Audio 50 headunits?
