Brand new, flint grey, ventillated seats and all the other options; never raced, broken-in in the most gentle way possible.
First, the good news. The car feels much more responsive, steering inputs are deliberate, brakes seem stronger and I'm willing to bet this car would do great on a road course.
Unfortunately, we were on the drag strip tonight where the car didn't do well. Best run was 13.01 @ 108.84 mph. Launching is super easy with the reduced torque. The best 60' time was 2.03 on the stock Contis.
Overall, it felt weaker down low than the E55 and weaker up top than the
M5. With all that being said, I LOVE the new "Max Cool" button on the AC controls--no more dialing it down one degree at a time.

.............Something is very strange. Derek, you are an experienced driver plus the E63 is apparently easier to launch, so the times you posted are not due to operator error. Somebody posted on another thread where their stock SLK55 beat an E63. This is consistent with your results since the SLK55 is 12.8 sec 1/4 mile car. Yet Mercedes keeps releasing these numbers for the E63 and ML63 that put them in the supercar category. Usually Mercedes is conservative with its performance figures. My G55 is apparently faster than the E63. I'm confused.

P.s I'm with Victor, I bet the car should get more milage, it also might be not as responsive and only learns what you want from it.
Give it a second chance.

Derek, I think you need to break the engine it a bit more before you decide to take a hit on the car.
I would certainly wait but thats just me. Give the tranny and ECU some time to adjust to your driving style.

Those #'s just seem Bad to me!!
I do not see how a car with 507HP and 7 gears of ratios only does a 13.++ @ 108.
Heck - my SRT8 with 425 HP and 5 gears did a 13.28 @109 in good weather!!
Even "new" and not broken in - I'd bet the car should be in the neighborhood of say 12.7 @ 113'ish
Derek - have you been known to
to us fellow E's in the past
Or are you serious.
To throw more
to the matter
The latest Automobile mag talked and showed some crazy 0-62 in 4.3
and also the 1/4mi in 11.8 or something like that.
Derek - come clean for all of us???? - it's kill'in us to believe those #'s
