e55 or e63??
I think im going to get rid of the M3
So what should I get...the E55 or the E63? I hear people saying the 55 motor is better than the 63??? so what would you guys pick and why? Oh and when are they going to re-design the E-class

oh man... where should you start. start looking at the recent threads about the e63 dynos, derek's e63 for sales thread, and other e63 topics. i think you'll get a clear understanding on where the 63 stands. i for one would not get a 63 for now until things are cleared up. this is given if you a performance nut like 80% of the e55 owners.

i wouldnt say "any modding at all", surely some basic stage 1 63 mods will bring the 63 AT LEAST even with a stock 55? im sure it wont be long before there are some half decent mod options for it, as not everyones a complete freak and gets k4! end of the day the 63 is a damn capable car, the only reason we 55'ers dont like it is cos it runs a couple of tenths slower down the quarter!
id say coming from an M3, your definitly gonna be more than happy with the 63, as its more in line with an M's handling and tranny... Just depends what you want to do with it, the 55 is a modern day big balled muscle car that with the flick of the esp switch you can leave looong big black fishtailing lines, personally i take great joy in doing this from time to time
I havent heard if the 63 will even do this?

True there will be mods out for the 63 someday, but what Im saying is if he is the type of person who will be focused on mods for his car,he will get more performance per dollar with the 55 or the 63 in the end.N/A cars just dont get the gain a F/I car will. Not everyone is for modding though, this is where the 63 shines, great car off the show room floor with out the SC draw backs(when there are any).
As others have said, it depends on your focus. If you want to modify your car, go with the E55. If you plan to keep it stock, I would go with the E63. Its right up there with the stock E55 in speed. Plus, it is new and improved in other ways like handling, brakes, etc.

Here's my take on the E63 vs. E55. If I had no desire to mod the car to increase power, I would definitely go with the E63. You will have consistent power delivery (no heat soak issues w/ the s/c) and the new 7sp. tranny. If you want to make the car faster, the E55 is definitely the right car for you.

Well I have a SL55 and I love the engine thats why I'm leaning towards the E55 because the engine is proven and has been tested time and time again. Also the e63 engine isnt doing it for me
Yes. I've owned a bone stock 2003 E55 with no reflash that I drove daily for two years.
I don't mean to say the E63 is LIGHTYEARS ahead...just improved in the before mentioned areas with no doubt except power.

What E63 ring victories or superior times to the competition have been published? any? so much for your sarcastic "drag hoe e55" comment! The M5 and M6 are going to waste the E63. More F1 wannabe statements.

Neither- if I already had an SL55. E55 and E63 are great cars but would not give much variety from the SL. You obviously like Beemers and if you like SMG then give the M5 a try.
