A little help PLEASE.....
Just hardwired my V1 based on 2 links recieved here (thanks guys) and everything works well and is completely concealed. The problem I am having is that the wooden piece around the gear shift knob will not snap back into place. I have checked the wiring, undone and redone the screws, checked the ashtray (which is in there tight) and CANNOT figure out how to get it to clip back in. I must be missing something here. I almost took a hammer to the f**#^@# thing but figured I would have a hard time explaining to the dealer why its all cracked up. It goes in but will not clip in all the way so the ashtray door gets stuck behind it. Any ideas? Have you guys had any problems getting it back in? Hmmmm......off to play with it some more......

Mine just popped right back in. Make sure the clips are lined up and not bent or something. I've had mine in and out 4 times and haven't had it stick like that.

It was a clip. Turns out that it had nothing to do with the ashtray at all. Forced the clip back with some pliers and then the stupid thing went right back in and was as snug as bug in a rug. Problem solved, V1 in and fully functional. Thanks XrayMD for all the info and the DIY.
