Gustav...
Seriously...why is it taking you so long to post this K4 vs M5 video? M&M, can you use your BMW clout to get Gustav to post this video?
Nick
PS on a side note: M&M - I wish we could race our cars. Seriously, I feel you have a freakishly fast M3 and I feel the same about my C55 but it's a shame I'm selling it. I should Dyno it at the very least just to see what it's got!

Exodus, down under this side of the world a guy ran like 12.0 @ 119 in stock M5 on pump fuel on something ridiculous like 22" wheels or something. I believe it was around 88 deg & our tracks aren't well prepared for traction.
If you search the M5board I think you will find his post with the slip. He's from Australia so he has Euro spec LC.

Moron, you are the one who should be looking for that post , not Exodus. Exodus posted slip and video for you and said "find me better". Now go find it, idiota.

now that's a nice run! I was sooo close to the 11's......
Dude, you magazine racers are morons.
Find me a STOCK M5 or M6 that can beat that!
That is a stock 2005 E55 Mercedes-Benz AMG.
Oh, and here is the video!
I was just going to sink to your level and play with magazines, but really REALITY is much better.
That is a number NO M5 or M6 can touch...
I infact challenge you to find me EVEN A MODDED M5 or M6 to be faster than the stock E55 above.

Folks -
The videos Gustav is posting are what they are - rolling start videos. We can watch them, or we can ignore them. When someone else wants to rent an airstrip and tape all these cars running from a dead stop, they can.
Do I believe that a stock 997 Turbo (or maybe even the Gallardo) would have slaughtered the modded M5 or the M6 from a dig? Yeah - even with Euro L/C, the M cars need to drive some length or wait some time before using it again, not to mention the odds of destroying a clutch from repeated use. Do I think Gustav knew that when deciding to have rolling start races? Of course.
I am not trying to defend Gustav at all. He and I have had our share of disagreements on his board. But this was his event. It is what it is. If some moron watches a video and thinks he can beat a K4 from a stoplight because (speculating here) the M6 started to close on the K4 at 245 kph, then he is a moron.
As for the K4 video, when it comes, it comes. I think Gustav is going to sell another one of his videos, and he is trying to drum up interest. Whether it works or not remains to be seen.

We thought we were going to race these cars from 0-200 KM/h - so we reduced tire pressure and flat tires get pretty heavy at around 200 km/h. I think that gave us a disadvantage at high speeds. The programme was changed so no 0-200. The BMW's didn't want to do that - because they wished to be gentle on their clutches
Why did BMW change the programme? If you were running at your previous tire pressure i believe the outcome would've been different that you'll still be ahead correct?

Guys c'mon, its not like that... Gustav always said at M5board.com that the races were going to be from 50-250. there are posts almost one month old claiming that. If Kleemann messed up, its they're fault...

Mercedes-Benz A170 CDI
It is no secret that Mercedes 5-speed cars are generally, well, "poor" might be a strong word, so "fair" at high speeds. The gearing is well spaced out and with a low final drive, that 500hp is being wasted.
In comparison to the M5/6, thosse cars' engines have a tremendously strong torque curve that is maintained well into the high revs, combined with the "perfect" SMG transmission (I say that in relation to the ratios and speed) makes mincemeat of just about any other car in this class by multiplying the torque much better than the AMG cars.
7G Tronic you all shout? Well, I am afraid that that transmissions ratios are much poorer at high speeds (100mph+) than the 5 speeder even. With an engine not producing 500hp+, the 63 cars struggle ("Oh no he didn't" )
The saving grace is perhaps that the SL65 in stock trim would be a good match for all the cars on that BMW "event".

but have a limit of usage.. and you need to wait time before using it again..
and it does not guarantee a perfect launch.
so.. having said that, I'm pretty sure M5 drivers will agree that a 55k motor will be hard to beat in the street from a dead stop or regular city driving.
Most of the time you won't have the time to set up the LC while going out for a quick milk run
from a roll, it depends what speed. But the 7spds really help, if you stay within the high power band.
a top end pull the M5 is a SUPER SEDAN!

I don't get it. You say you thought you were racing from 0, but then you say that you knew for a month it would be from 50?

Fair points about the SMG usage. I'm not a fan of it. I''ll take a stick anyday.
Howver, there are some ways to fool it & get to use it anytime, anywhere. The "blip" method doesn't use LC & isn't monitored. It doesn't pulse the clutch like LC does, so on surface with non-perfect traction you may struggle. But at a prepped drag strip you can get the revs up to around 4000-4500 with a clutch dump. Surely better than the cripples US spec 1800 LC.
And no the clutch doesn't overheat. You probably find the Gallárrdo or 997T's clutch take strain long before an M5's. HAving 2WD takes more strain on the tyres than the clutch.
Bu enough with the polite discussions, where's the video?

Enzom, Fikse:
AMAZING RUNS!
I'm a firm believer that if the conditions were perfect, the E55 could break 11s... 11.8-11.9.
Fikse, my apologies for using your car without your permission, I wasn't aware it belonged to you; I hope you don't mind if I use(d) it to trounce this magazine racing troll...

While I do believe these runs are better for a M5/M6 vs AMG ... I do want to say that I find the videos fantastic and congrats on putting such an event together.
Now ... where are all the damn M5's/M6's up here in Northern Cali. ...

M&M, get real.
In your side of the world I've run 3 m5's now, 2 from a stop, and 1 80k roll, won all 3 in a stock 55. The 2 standstill runs where with l/c on. We have euro l/c here.
