Are they the composite rotors? If so, they're going to squeak forever, and ever, and ever.

I don't know if the 63 rotors are different from the 55's but I just had mine in for the 2nd time because I refuse to have a high $ car with squeaky brakes. They replaced the pads this time and within 200 miles they were squeaking again. Next stop...new rotors.

i got around 250 miles on the car now, brakes squeek but nothing abnormal, i just blame it on exessive city driving.... HRE's look amazing on the car, congrats, what module have you used for lowering. looking forward to getting my HRE's now

E63 AMG
i didnt know the car had to be serviced at 1000 miles, asked the dealer when i got the car, and he said service comes when the car tells u, which i'm sure u know is a countdown from 10,000 miles. do i ask again?? is it written in the manual that the car should have a run in check at 1000 miles.. My car is also at the dealers for Ipod kit installation. could u tell me the price ur dealer is charging you, wanna compare with mine. also looking forward to the answers on 2nd gear start in S mode. mine starts in 2nd as well.

Here is how the brakes are described on their website:

Brakes AMG-enhanced dual-circuit power-assist 4-wheel disc brakes. 14.2" compound perforated and ventilated front and 13.0" perforated and ventilated rear brakes. AMG 6-piston fixed front and AMG 4-piston fixed rear calipers.

When they say "compound" is this the same as "composite"?

E63,,,not any more,,,BMW X5 50i
I am not sure on this, but I think compound refers to the 2 piece brake rotor setup that is used in the e63 .

No problems yet. My car's brakes do not squeak, at least I have not noticed it. Maybe the stereo is up too loud Will definitely check. Only have 400 miles so far. My brakes are still extra grippy. Makes it a little difficult to coast down to a nice smooth stop. Some of it is due to the car gearing down as well. Getting better at it tho'.

The car does need to be brought in 1000-3000 miles for a 'free' service check. We do have a specific service manual that states this and has a dealer checklist included. This states diagnostic check and answering any customer questions.

What I don't understand is we all ordered our cars and had to wait for them. Why in heaven's name could they not order the iPods and Bluetooths and put them in when the cars are delivered?!!!!! Wouldn't that make a little bit of sense. I still have to wait for these as well. Absolutely kills me....

Let me know what you guys find about the 2nd gear nonsense as well as if there is any difference s/p 1000 mile service.

I agree that the first service is a little vague. If you look in your service or maintenance book, there is a reference to a 1000 - 3000 mile service. According to my service rep, they just check the tires and fluids and some other minor items. Since I needed to install my Ipod and Bluetooth, (and there were very unreliable rumors of ECU mileage limiters), I thought I would get it in there pronto. Besides, they gave me a loaner car which made it really easy.

Price was about $1300 for both the Ipod and Bluetooth, parts and install. Dont know separate cost for each.

I did get some good info on the 2nd gear start and posted it at this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/164099-e63-s-port-mode-question-want-start-1st-gear.html

See how it works for you. So far, I am much happier knowing this information and it seems to work well.

Got call from Dealers today.. Around £700 equivelant to $1300 for Ipod kit installation including fitting etc.. My cousins SLK55 is with them as well but its only around £500. Probably more complicated on E-Class.. Thanx for the info... Will keep u posted on how i get on with 1st gear start on S-Mode... thats once i get the car back ofcourse.
