Need Help with Color
Hi Everyone,
Long time member here. I read more than I post and have appreciated all the information provided by the members here. Thanks.
I was recently involved in an accident with my MY2001 E55 AMG. The beast most likely will be considered a total loss. I have been looking at the new E63 as a replacement, but will need some assistance with deciding on the exterior color.
The E55 was silver and I love silver, but I am superstitious and will try to pick a different color for my next car.
Obsidian black or Flint Grey would be my next choices. There's an Obsidian sitting at the dealer now, or I could order the Flint Grey.
My main issue is maintaining the shine/finish of the exterior paint. I would guess grey would be a little easier than black to maintain.
Questions:
-How difficult is it to maintain Obsidian Black compared to a grey?
-If black, would I have to apply Polish and Wax everytime after I wash?
Thanks in advance for all your input.

Sorry about the loss and glad to hear you're ok, but hey, now its time to upgrade! We've got a black E and the paint holds up fine. As long as you watch your wash materials you can stay away from swirl scratches on the paint very easily and keep it looking nice and clean. Color wise, I prefer silver because it really accentuates the lines of the car, whichever car it may be. I saw a silver E63 on my local showroom floor and it was quite distinguished from the black one I test drove, but either way, its a great looking car. It does look awesome in Flint Grey, but you should really check out the dark blue (Midnight Blue Metallic?) color that MB offers. I don't know the exact name but a few members here have E55's in that color and it is absolutely stunning. Worth checking it out.

Ben,
If you like blue, check out Capri Blue Metallic (code 359 for 2006). Before I ordered my E55 I had my mind set on silver until I saw a Capri Blue S55 on the showroom floor. It was stunning, and I changed my mind instantly. It is nice to see a color other than silver or black all the time which are definitely the most popular colors. I get compliments on it EVERYWHERE especially after a Zaino detail. If you want to see some pics just PM me.

There's a link to some pics of my car in the sticky E55 picture thread. There should be every available color shown somewhere in there (15 pages).
