Well let me say I am no car whiz like most of you to the likes of vrus, grumpy, etc... But something got me thinking. The Acura RL has a CF driveshaft to its SH-AWD unit in the back.
Now would there be any advatages of say increasing power on our E55's and even E63's by using a CF driveshaft to the rear diff? One benefit is obviously weight savings. But is there power to be gained through this? Also it would be bloody expensive im sure but............anything is possible haha.

E55
bloody expensive.
Does reduce sprung weight. For the price, IMO, it doesn't justify replacing for performance unless you have to becuase your existing one breaks, vibrates or for other reason. For all out drag, not as strong as other material. For road race and driving around, will be a good improvement.
Good for safety because if it break, it becomes a broom and clean your undercarriage. - seriously.

Definitely stronger and saves on unsprung weight, as has been noted. Overkill? Yes. You'd have to talk to ACPT directly for pricing since this will most likely be a custom application. Here's a link to something a bit more "off the shelf": http://www.lmperformance.com/5447/4.html
