CF components anyone?

Hi all. I have a local company wanting to get into MB parts. They are willing to use my car as a template to make a mold at their expense. Question is, what parts would people like to see offered first?
The simple ones are done by others (spoiler lip and rear diffuser), but I was more thinking of engine bay and interior components.
I have been to the facility and their work is truly nice. Enough so that I am considering a few.
So, what pieces would you all want? The price will be great as they are planning on selling through distributors later, so we would be getting that same price now.

I would want all the interior trim pcs. I have that Burl Walnut trim inside that I dont really care about.

Most of the stuff is already available. There are 2 carbon fiber engine covers available already. Also, I believe C2 design and Brabus make CF interior pieces as well. CF steering wheels are also available by almost any tuner lol

Very true, but we are talking fractions of those costs.

Hardrivr 10-15-2006 01:45 AM

Good point. The stuff available is very pricey...

dragonAMG 10-15-2006 02:47 AM

Hold the phone, bro. Let's prioritize pieces. It will get done over a period of time and each component will be separate, so we need to decide which order we want them done in. My car is black and my interior charcoal with birds eye, so the CF colors will match up nicely.

My vote for first piece is the Shifter gate. I don't know if i like the aluminum look and I don't want to go birds eye, so I thought CF??

jdm2ths 10-15-2006 11:46 AM

i can use carbon....

Dogshine 10-15-2006 01:10 PM

its usually so expensive due to the production of the molds and labor that goes into it that nobody will buy it if its high enough quality.

AdamG@NorCal 10-15-2006 01:19 PM

Your best bet is to wait for mpdesign to make those part.

Carlsson does make a full cf interior for the CLS. Its like $7000 retail.

Kev04C320 10-15-2006 01:22 PM

Kleemann's retailing for 5K or so

If you can do it for about 2K, I'm in.

dragonAMG 10-15-2006 02:09 PM

C2 did it for Ken for $3,500. Like Kev said, at 2k I'm all over it.

Hardrivr 10-15-2006 03:15 PM

I would be more interested in exterior first but I'm in for the full haul...

jangy 10-15-2006 05:43 PM

We are playing with a few things now.
Door lock Pins of all things. Also, the shift gate I spoke of.

Kev04C320 10-15-2006 07:53 PM

Door lock pins are already available:

They retail for about 25 bucks per 2. (Disclaimer: that's based on the Japanese yen exchange rate. These are not available for sale in the US unless you have some one to buy it in Japan and ship it to you.)

AMG_55 10-15-2006 08:11 PM

cf front fenders (a little wider than stock, 124 500 style) would be sick, w/ a slk black type cutout/vent

cf trunk w/ a spoiler (1 piece) like the m3 csl

hood w/ vents

How about CF brake ducts, to keep the things as cool as possible.

I've been looking into that and while I do plan on running some air to the front brakes, I doubt they will be CF. I'm leaning more at some flexible tubing (like a dryer) that draws air from just under the airdam.

Now you are talking. I noticed that my car ran stronger when the front grill was removed, so a replacement that has less slits is in order. What do you know, CF can help add performance. Remind me you gave me the idea and i'll get you an extra special discount.

Dogshine 10-16-2006 12:09 AM

that grill looks sweet....

BenzoBoi 10-16-2006 11:40 AM
