Tested E63 & M5, Run with E63 vs E55

When I test drove an '05 - its S/C shutdown. I did not know it at the time but I tried to kickdown and accel hard from about 70mph on highway (soon after some spiritied accel runs from slow roll) and there was just nothing ... 5 mins later - all was fine.
I thot at time it was bad fuel or something like that. Especially 'cos it only happened once, and was back to "normal" quite quickly. Was quite a warm day but not sweltering.
Not ideal. Touch wood my '06 has not had this choke yet. Think I may toy with pulley etc in a while if I decide to keep this car till it dies; or trade it in 08/09 for the w212 - then I need to stay mod free.
Now about those E63 mufflers VRUS ????
The car has 200km on it, and i insisted that they have to give me the with max power in order for me to make a choice to buy. I was told that the car has to do 2500km before they can change the ecu and change gearbox oil. They agreed to sort it out and give the to me tomorrow. Videos coming soon.

I love the M5. I'm beginning to really like the car. Top end power, handlling, braking, weight distribution.
But the problems you experienced really makes me think twice abou it. I usually vist the M5board every other day and I'm keeping a close eye on all the issues, as a potential future owner.
Plus the lack of usable torque in city driving, would drive me nuts.
From the oil consumption, to the jerkiness of the SMG in comfort mode, to the stiff suspension and all the electrical problems, it really is a work of art in progress.
The E63 has a proven chassis (a bit outdated) the interior is on par with the M5 and the exterior is a bit more luxo. The M5 looks mean and sporty, but not as classy.
Both are fine vehicles, but I'm going to weight 18 months and see if the M5 has fixed all their bugs and see if the CLS63 or E63 has a bit more tuning potential and then decide on one of the two.
